A's, Marlins could be goners as contraction looms

Featured Replies

as far fetched as contraction sounds who knows alot of NBA teams are in financial trouble I am sure some of you read the article how about half he NBA teams had to borrow money to offset their operating losses . While the Marlins are making money they don't have a field to play on after 2011 (if the stadium does not get approved ) .If the Marlins dont relocate with in state I would prefer they not exist .

Well of course the NY media would like to see us contracted. Without the Marlins, there'd be no team to knock the Mutts out of the playoffs every year...

I would be a fan of the sport, but I wouldn't have a favorite team.

That would leave the Florida Panthers as my only team.

I drop baseball as a hobby forever.

Took the words right out of my mouth :thumbdown

Why because some cheap owner wouldn't put out more cash?.

What are you talking about? Loria has fought more than any owner to keep this team in Florida.

And there's no way I could root for another team. Been a Marlins fan since 1993. Only team I ever rooted for, since the day I became a baseball follower. I definitely disagree with people who would rather see this team disappear than relocate. If the Marlins move they are still my team, no matter what. Much better than them not existing.

I agree. I'd be a fan of the team if they relocate, as well.

Add me to the list of fans who will stay with this team even if they relocate. I'm a fan for life, no matter where they play :thumbup

Now, I really have no idea what I would do if they get contracted. I grew up rooting for the Marlins, so I don't know anything else. It would probably be between the following teams (in no particular order):

Rays (closest AL team, but I like the NL a lot more than the AL, so that would be tough)

Braves (closest NL team)

Cardinals (They train in Jupiter which is about 20-25 mins from my house, plus my mother is from Missouri)

Cubs (Always been a fan of the tradition and passion of their fans, plus Wrigley is amazing, and it would be fun rooting for a team who hasn't won a world series in a century)

Red Sox-(Pretty much the same as how I feel w/ the Cubs, except in the American League (which I have already stated I am not very fond of), plus their recent success makes it a little too easy to just hop on the bandwagon

Dodgers- (I enjoy the history of the team going back to their roots in Brooklyn)

And also any of the following teams, simply because they have never won titles:

Padres, Rockies, Astros, Brewers, Mariners, Rangers, Nationals
