Coming into this year, the main complaints/worries were the bullpen, the defense, & clutch hitting.

On this road trip, the bullpen has allowed 1 ER in 25+ innings, and the ER was a result of a bad throw by Uggla on a routine DP in the 8th inning today.

The defense made its first error of the entire road trip today (Uggla's throw)...speaking of this? How much better does this defense look? The corner infield just looks so much better with so much more range, and the OF looks better, as well. I actually expected this one, but I know not too many people did.

Also...last year...many fans got fed up with the K's/long swings with men in scoring position. The Marlins entered the day with a line of .327/.424/.527 with .RISP.

Yeah...I was the only one worried about the bullpen.

You are one great troll.

Well, I gotta agree with the bullpen. I was really worried about them and, while I'm not completely settled yet about the middle, I'm way more settled on a Kiko, Nunez, Lindstrom 7-8-9. And with our starters, that might be all we need.

As far as the defense, I also saw it coming as well.

.265/.359/.433. That was our RISP in 2008. Not what we are hitting now, but that's was nowhere near a weakness, more a misconception than anything. We had the 4th best OPS, 6th best OBP, and 5th best BA with RISP in the NL.

Oh i'm so hurt by the badass 15 year old. :weightlift

1. I'm 17.

2. You're the last person who should be ranking on someone's age, considering there are some 5 year olds who are more mature than you.

BTW...do we still need Adam Dunn? :lol How's our weak corner OF doing? :lol

1. The bullpen has been amazing without a doubt, but it's still very early in the season, and half of the games have been against the Nationals.

2. I don't think many people actually thought defense was going to be that much of a weakness as it was last year. With Maybin moving to CF, Ross and Hermida switching positions, and Cantu moving to first permanently, most on here thought that it would be much better.

3. Clutch hitting is not a weakness, nor can it be.

Btw, I'm not saying things will stay this way.

Just pointing out the improvements, thus far.

I'm surprised, knowing the love, no one has mentioned how much better Hermida looks in left than in right. Kinda makes you wonder (of course the answer is Josh Willingham) why this didn't happen sooner.

What about Fredi>?

What about him? He's done well...

well more because of last season he handled the bullpen terribly while this year he has done a very good job managing the bullpen. Gotta give him mad props.

I'm going to say it's brilliant front officing and brilliant managing by knowing Hermida would fail in RF to give him a reality check that he needs to work harder and it just doesn't come naturally at this level, as in you need to watch tape to get ready for games. It's a cruel world and a horrible joke on Hermida, but tough love at it's finest!

Or, they kind of just figured it out on the fly because Cody Ross is pretty awesome and is a better fit for RF anyways.

I'm fine with either interpretation. I like the more whimsical one personally.

Bonifacio???????????????????? That was the biggest one!

I don't think he was terrible managing the pen last year.

I mean, what exactly is he doing, differently? A manager looks better when his players perform, and right now, everyone in the pen is doing their job, so Fredi is looking better.

Also...last year, the issue with the pen was the lack of innings from the starters. If anything, that has to stop right now. Our SP this year>>>>>>>>>our SP last year...BUT we didn't even average 5 innings from the starters this weekend in Washington. Maybe Miller can step up and give us 6 innings tomorrow in Pittsburgh. We could sure use 'em.

I think it's the latter, considering Hermida was an average defensive RF'er. Not exactly bad.

Well, he's exceeded my expectations, as well.

Although...he's quickly comeback to reality.

I just expected Bonifacio to make us better defensively, and really...he has.

Not that it makes it any less awkward, but that "dude" is Hanley.

While I wasn't here to make complaints, if I was registered on the site i would have made complaints.

Everyone was worried, Retro is just trolling as usual.

its not that easy... as a GOOD manager, you put your players in a position to be successful

I'm not playing the result here.

What's he doing differently?

You're qouting Djm in there, pal. I never said he was doing anything differently. Overall he has done a good job managing this year, and not just the pen.
