April 20, 200917 yr Btw, I'm not the only one who thinks this way about him. Oh...those silly haterzzzz. :whistle Yeah, I'm one of those haters to. Wow. Horrible. The thing difference between you and everybody else (well, most everybody else) is you have zero tact. Right...no. You clearly haven't seen some others post on him. Starting with Spike. But I guess this is just another case of "Erick's World, Population 1," huh?
April 20, 200917 yr lol ignorant. I'm just saying you are assuming that every single one of his strikeouts in the minors was on a high fastball. He also got hits in the minors. You seem to ignore the upside of Boni's speed, and the fact that Juan Pierre made a career with this team on bunt hits and slap hits. I can easily see with Pressly that Boni can learn to lay off the high fastball, then Boni can become that JP kind of player, getting those bloop hits, bunt hits, and stealing all day. I could easily see Boni being a very productive player, say .280 with 45+ steals if Pressly fixes Boni's tendency to chase that fastball, which can easily be corrected.

Juan Pierre...another guy who proved to be way better in the minors. And while Pierre had walk issues (which he never fixed), he also rarely ever K'd. And no...Boni's tendency to chase the fastball is not easily corrected. You bring up a .280 average & 45 SB's...which is something I don't doubt he can do if given the chance to play everyday. Regardless, what does that .280 average translate to, in terms of .OBP? Y'know...the stat that really matters, in Bonifacio's case?
April 20, 200917 yr If Bonafacio can lay off the high fastball he can cut down his Ks. But the fact is, for some annoying reason, he can't. That's why I can't wait for Sanchez to come up.

How can you say that it can easily be corrected? you aren't changing his complete swing, you are changing the players mindset. To watch game film and notice which pitches, which are all in the same spot on the same pitch, are the ones you are poorly swinging at and correcting your mindset at the plate isn't hrad.
April 20, 200917 yr And spike is a hater and I'm sure he'd say as much. Your point? That you have hater confused with realist.
April 20, 200917 yr And also the blind hatred comes from the fact that anything that could be interpreted as possibly positive towards a player you hate, you jump on the person. Same basic thing with Andino the entire off season. Lou made some depth chart post that talked about Andino getting a few starts at 2B. You and he then got into some 5 page fiasco about you continually talking about how horrible Andino is without understanding that, oh, hey, a back up IFer is going to get starts at 2b to give starters offdays. Same basic thing here. You argue points nobody makes because you think they MIGHT be talking positive about a player.

Watching game film & hitting a pitcher live are two completely different things. You talk as if you've done this before, or something.
April 20, 200917 yr And spike is a hater and I'm sure he'd say as much. Your point? That you have hater confused with realist. A hater can be a realist. Just because somebody is a hater doesn't make them a realist, and just because somebody is a realist doesn't make them a hater. I mean sh*t, I don't understand what part you don't even understand about how I agree with you that Bonfiacio is nothing more than a utility player, and yet you keep harping on about being some "realist" that nobody understands.

Btw...where is Robert Andino, again? Is that Cesar Izturis getting starts over him in Baltimore? :o Forgive me.

You talk as if you've done this before, or something. maybe its just me, but I watch an opposing pitcher live when i played for my high school team, it helped me before batting. Then if i struck out or something, I would think over what i did wrong during my last at bat, speak with the coach about it, and in my next at bat i would know how to correct it. I could see maybe a change in stance may also be in order, as he seems to be behind on a lot of swings because of how he starts his bat off in the at bat.

Btw, Chris Coghlan > Emilio (in case this is for..."Boni could be our future 2B" stuff).

April 20, 200917 yr What's the problem with letting him get some ABs, Erick? Call up Coghlan and give him a shot at 3B if anything.
April 20, 200917 yr What's the problem with letting him get some ABs, Erick? Call up Coghlan and give him a shot at 3B if anything. I never said it was a problem. I said I'd rather have Bonifacio on the bench, as opposed to Carroll. Then I started getting stuff of "room for improvement/potential"...normally, top prospects get that treatment. Btw, lol @ your new avatar. I was kinda feeling sorry for that guy, yesterday.

Any why was I brought up in this little discussion? Outside from pointing out how hypocritical it is for people who say talking about Bonifacio's recent struggles(I havent done that btw) is getting ahead of ourselves while openly having to change their underpants every time he came up to plate the first 4 games. My opinion? He is a mediocre player with some speed. He has never shown much of anything as an offensive player. Joey Gathright is a nice parallel, similar speed, Gathright was actually a better hitter in the minors, but has been an epic fail as a batter at the MLB level.

It's especially funny when he takes a liking to a player and throws stats out the window in favor of trust and how he FEELS about him.
April 20, 200917 yr He probably has some room for improvement though. He might not ever be more than Amezaga, but he could work on some stuff. Nobody is a finished product at 24. I'd rather have Carrol on the bench if we're talking just defensive replacement. Boner is faster. Personally, I'll take a bench of Gload, Helms, Carroll, Boner, and Paulino. Gaby or Coghlan starting. Amezaga is kind of overkill, he doesnt' give you anything that you can't get from other people, and having him and Boner really limits your bench. Just as Hermida still has room for improvement at this age and can't be written off as being a finished product, neither can Boner. Hermida's got longer to go because his ceiling is higher, and I'm not comparing them other than saying nobody is a finished product at 24.
