August 5, 201016 yr I wonder how tarnished his legacy will be 10 years from now and you look at your numbers and he has 500 TD passes, 70000 yards and an insane amount of games played.... What's your point? He's great, sure. But he's going down as a diva. How is he a diva? I mean I don't see him calling in to ESPN 24/7 giving an update on his situation, if anything the media is more in love with Favre then he is with it.... I mean I never see the guy doing special interviews or calling in, I honestly don't understand why he gets painted as a media whore when it's the media that keeps following him around, for all we know that 'text message' yesterday was all made up to generate some ratings. I just see a guy that wants to play football but knows his body isn't able to take all the beating of training camp and the like and just wants to make his decision in his own time, the organization is OK with it, he is OK with it, the media makes a circus of it and he gets the blame. I just don't get it. Lol what? 4 years in a row now the dude has retired, cried on national television, and made an 'epic comeback' to the league. He goes and puts the NFL spotlight on him every single offseason, and makes decisions that are destructive to several teams, and only supportive of what Brett wants. 4 times in a row? I'm I missing something or is that a made up number? I only saw him cry and hold a press conference once, the first time. And can you tell he wasn't truly sad he was leaving the NFL? I mean do you know him personally? And you can't blame his decisions for 'destroying teams' those teams SIGNED HIM! They knew the risk they were taking, they are not victims... Either way I don't care, like I said I just can't understand the hate for the guy or why people call him a diva or a media whore, especially when you have guys like T.O. out there. Between 2007 and 2008, retirement and return to the Green Bay Packers. Between 2008 and 2009 retirement and return, rejected by the Packers, to the Jets. Between 2009 and 2010, retirement and a return as a free agent to the Minnesota Vikings. Each and every time he appears on television for a press conference, either crying or with a hoarse voice telling the world that he doesnt think he can do it anymore and how he is either mentally tired or whatever. This makes four. Yeah, he's not crying this time, but he put the Vikings through a lot of heartache. Let everyone sign first, and then the Bret Favre who cant do relationships ever since he broke up with Green Bay steals the spotlight of the media, waiting on everyone to watch and see what he does. Oh blah blah blah Bret might be coming back again everyone, as long as he's healthy. Give me a break, no player says that. As long as I'm healthy. He's just using that as a kickstand so that the media spotlight stays on him so when he officially announces he's back, he gets more media spotlight.
August 5, 201016 yr Now Farve is denying that he sent a text to his teammates or told anyone that he retired yesterday. He said that as long as he is healthy he will play. Either way he got an extra $3 million out of it. The only reason he can get away with this is that he plays at such a high level. If he didnt put up a killer season last year the Vikings would have moved on months ago.
August 11, 201016 yr On a related note, anyone read the accusations from the Jets employee that said he send pictures of Little Brett to her cellphone? Too funny.
August 17, 201016 yr http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp10/news/story?id=5470904 looks like he is probably coming back.
August 18, 201016 yr People say Brett is still playing because he's showed he can but we all know that the only reason he's still playing is so he can maintain all of his records and get them to a point where no one will ever come near him, one of those records happens to be most times retired, unretired and resigned in the NFL. BRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTT
August 18, 201016 yr Brett is still playing because Brett likes to play and Brett can still play. Pure and simple.
August 18, 201016 yr Brett is still playing because Brett likes to play and Brett can still play. Pure and simple. I'm still waiting for the day when he starts speaking in 3rd person. IFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU SMELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL! What the Brett, Is Cooking!
August 18, 201016 yr What kind of nerve do you have to have to give a team a quarterback dilemna only to come back three weeks before the year? He's pretty much gone "haha syke" about three times already. Detest this guy's way of going about business.

They have all the ability to say "We're not taking you back Brett" just like the Packers did.

They have all the ability to say "We're not taking you back Brett" just like the Packers did. That's not the point. Favre knows that the Vikings need and want him back. Any person with not only his interests/ego in mind would have made the decision prior the whole 'final decision' time weeks before the season starts. I think it's what all of the older athletes do to skip out on the strenuous training camp though, saw it in Anaheim with Scott Niedermeyer and Teemu Selanne in the NHL.

They have all the ability to say "We're not taking you back Brett" just like the Packers did. They want him back because Favre is the superior QB. But one of these offseasons, Favre is going to do the same sh*t, only to officially retire. That's going to suck for that team because they'll be waiting for #4 all through training camp, only to watch him not show up. I'd just like ESPN to bash the guy as they've bashed LeBron James decision all summer. Or at least tell it like it is. "Brett Favre's ankle was perfectly fine; he just came back now because he knows he didn't have to and did not want to endure training camp, once again." That would be cool. Instead we get to hear about him 24/7 again.
August 18, 201016 yr Once again I hope the Packers destroy Favre and the Vikings when they play this season
August 18, 201016 yr I thought people were crazy when they said Bret Favre is coming back for the first time. Now look. Anyway, this sucks for Miami. Now we have to face him week 2.

I think it will be worse if the team holds out for Farve (pays him $20 million) and then he plays like Mark Sanchez did last year. That would be worse. The bottom line is this. As long as he can play at a high level, someone will always want him. I mean if he keeps playing like he did last year, why wouldnt you wait for him? He almost took the team to the superbowl. If he starts to really decline, then just move on.
August 18, 201016 yr Yea, to truly get rid of Favre, he has to have a 20+ interception season. When that happens, everyone will blame it on age and he'll be gone for good.
August 19, 201016 yr Yea, to truly get rid of Favre, he has to have a 20+ interception season. When that happens, everyone will blame it on age and he'll be gone for good. He'll truely have to get hurt. As a Farve fan I truly believe if he gets to the Playoffs this year, Superbowl or not, that he will retire after this season. His last contract will be up and he'll be done with his 20th season with all of his records safely secured.

They have Sage Rosenfels and Tavaris Jackson. He knows they're not going to do that. And the training camp excuse isn't valid to me. Everyone knows he'd get a red jersey light workload in it. Besides, it's part of the game and the part in which new guys get to know their QB the most. If you're not going to participate in every aspect of the game, why participate at all? Favre never cared about the team aspect of the game; he's always been about himself. He made that perfectly clear when he refused to tutor Rodgers. But hey, at least Aaron will throw a lot less picks now.

August 19, 201016 yr Okay. Not sure what your point is. The point is Favre knows they'll take him back if he comes back so he can do whatever he wants and does. Gives them headaches until the season starts. He's an asshole.
