May 12, 200917 yr I thought my argument has always been about the nature of an opinion. Specifically the question 'if an opinion is based on nothing, is it valid?' If I said 'I think cameron maybin is white' then it'd be ok. That's the problem with your line of thinking. You can say anything so long as you say 'imo' before it.

May 12, 200917 yr Saying 'I don't believe in gravity' is no different than saying 'I believe cameron maybin is the best player I'm baseball', the only difference is you believe that gravity is an immutable law (as do I), whereas quality of baseball player is open to interpretation and can't be definitively stated. This is where we differ. I believe that in baseball, you can use what a player has done to come up with immutable facts about them, which can prove opinions wrong. If you believe 'I believe gravity exists' can be proven right or wrong, which you obviously do, then you are going back on your previously held assertions that opinions can not be right or wrong, but that they simply exist. You are just changing the context in which they can be judged, just as you belittled erick for when he brought politics as an example where you can't be right or wrong.

Your second sentence doesn't make much sense. Gravity is a law. it is proven. If I say I don't believe in it, I'm wrong. If I say "The thing that holds us to the earth and causes objects to fall is unexplainable or is magic" then I'm just delusional. Do you know the difference between a theory and a law? One can be disputed the other is proven.

But, before the season started I simply had an opinion on the issue of whether or not Favre would play this season. My opinion isnt right or wrong, its simply my perception of the situation. If I see he joins the Vikings and starts playing this season and I say "Favre is not going to play this upcoming season" already having known hes coming back to play then I would be making a false statement, its not an opinion anymore, its a fact.

Why are you so horrible with analogies? We were talking about opinions like "I think Cameron Maybin is white," and now all of the sudden you've changed this to a predictions thread. Of course that's not a wrong opinion. It hasn't been proven. THIS IS NOT DIFFICULT TO COMPREHEND! Seriously, is this a prank? Edit: Just saw your last paragraph. Why is it any different? That guy just used an opinion that is based on incorrect information as an example of a wrong opinion to prove that there's no such thing as a wrong opinion, and then he said it isn't an opinion because it is wrong. Correct me if I'm not following, but that's basically what I see.
