Posted May 25, 200915 yr Remember that one time where Stanton only had one flaw, but a bunch of people saw it as a big flaw? The whole contact/strike out thing? May: 80 PAs 10 walks 12.5%, cool and all. 12 strikeouts just 15% over half of a drop in % from last year. That's a 0.83 BB/K we're talking about the BB% and K% that Gaby Sanchez puts up oh and it also comes with a .600 SLG (.300 ISO). In JupITeR If he keeps this up we're seriously talking about #1 prospect in baseball. If he does this in June I wouldn't be against him in being in Jax in July.
May 26, 200915 yr IF the weather holds up I'll get to see him tonight, to see the beast that is to be :evil
May 26, 200915 yr Heyward's starting to get rolling again. Your right, could be Heyward and Stanton 1 and 2. It's going to be disgusting when they get called up, probably near the same time.
May 27, 200915 yr They only made it through the top half of the second last night. Stanton took a called thirs strike and Dominguez lined out. They'll try to get the rest of this game and todays game in tonight. I also met the parents of Andrew Battisto at the game really nice folks, I didn't realize the numbers he put up last year in Greensboro. If I get a chance I'll post soeme pix after I go back on Friday.
May 29, 200915 yr Certainly encouraging news. As excited and anxious as I am for him to be in a Marlin uniform, we should take time with him. We shouldn't rush him in the slightest, after all he is 19. I check his stats every day and the power numbers are really great! I do have one question about his name. Is it Giancarlo Cruz "Michael" Stanton, where Stanton is his last name or is it Giancarlo Cruz and Michael Stanton, which would be 2 different names. Can anybody clue me in on this? Lol. Thanks!
May 29, 200915 yr From what I understand, it's Giancarlo Cruz-Stanton, and he goes (professionally atleast) by Michael Stanton. That's where the "Giancarlo Cruz-'Michael' Stanton" comes from.
May 30, 200915 yr From what I understand, it's Giancarlo Cruz-Stanton, and he goes (professionally atleast) by Michael Stanton. That's where the "Giancarlo Cruz-'Michael' Stanton" comes from. Ok, gotcha.
May 31, 200915 yr Just for some context on his numbers........... He's in a 12-team league. He's batting .299, and to show you how much of a pitcher's league the FSL is, he is 16th in BA with that figure. His .393 OBP ranks 8th in the league. His .598 SLG ranks #1. And his .990 is #2 in the league. He's also 15th in K's. But his K and K/BB have made a nice improvements, especially considering how difficult it is, it would seem, to hit in this league. Also also, he's got 12 HR. The next closest has 9.
