Posted June 4, 200915 yr I know weve been playing relatively better of late and there are still 111 games left but if the phillies win tonight we will be 7.5 out. I dont know about anyone else but thats close to being in no mans land for the division. we need to gain some games fast. hopefully 2 by the end of the week.
June 4, 200915 yr I panicked a long time ago. It was evident a long time ago what type of team this was. It's not gonna actually be too late to really put things together for a little while, but to to that we're gonna have to make some changes that the FO hasn't been willing to make. Until then, watch the mediocrity.
June 4, 200915 yr I don't have particularly high hopes for this team, barring some miracle where the other teams in the division collapse and we actually beat teams outside the division for once...
June 4, 200915 yr Author The time to panic was 20+ games ago. yes but 20 games ago we were not 7.5 out.
June 4, 200915 yr It is time to watch. If we continue winning consistently, then the glimmer of hope is back and getting brighter. If we trudge along and play .500 ball or worse, then it is time to resign.
June 4, 200915 yr Our biggest problem is that even with their injuries, the Phillies and Mets are still winning. Once they get their injured guys back, we're in deep trouble.
June 4, 200915 yr Unless they pull off a major trade soon, I see them being double digits behind after facing the AL East this month.
June 4, 200915 yr Well, we have a 2.13334% chance of making the playoffs according to PECOTA :whistle And our final projected record as of tonight is 74-88. Doesn't sound completely out of the question.
June 4, 200915 yr Obviously the Interleague games against the AL East are tough but if we can somehow have a good record in them, it is not out of the question for the Mets and Phillies to struggle against the likes of the Yankees and Red Sox so by the end of this month we could realistically close the gap down.
June 4, 200915 yr Dude, you never panic in baseball. It's not the NFL- no hurry up offense, no Hail Mary's, no 0-16 seasons. The beauty of baseball is it teaches you patience and perseverance. There's no panicking, no hurrying, no crying. There's always hope for tomorrow. Even if your team sucks it will win somedays and lose somedays, but it will win and someday it will win it all (unless you're the Cubs). If you don't understand this you don't understand baseball. This team may not make the playoffs but it might. We have 109 games to go. Relax.
June 4, 200915 yr Hell no. Uggla, Hermida & Ross are warming up finally, Hanley is an absolute stud, Cantu is getting it back, Baker is ... Baker. We have a much better looking rotation, studs in the bullpen (Calero, Badenhop, Nunez, Meyer(ish), Sanches(ish)), Penn's been DFAd so we can get Christhian Martinez back (eventually) and Lindstrom pitches like a bastard about two times out of three. Heck, even Bonifacio got on base three times last night and made a screaming play to the plate. And an error. Only real problem is our new no-hitting lead-off man that's replaced our other no-hitting lead-off man, but even that might not be a problem if De Aza continues to think it's Spring Training and doesn't become a no-hitting lead-off man. All we need are Ricky 2008 back and Cameron September 2008 back. Screw the Phollies and the Mutts.
June 4, 200915 yr As a Phillies fan, I will say this.. The time to gain ground is the month of June and first week of July. This is our upcoming schedule. I see the Phillies going .500, hopefully a win or 2 better, but I would be at al shocked to see the Phillies cool off. 4 @ LAD 3 @ NYM 3 vs BOS 3 vs TOR 3 vs BAL 3 @ TB 3 @ TOR 3 @ ATL 2 vs NYM
June 4, 200915 yr Yes its time. We blew the lead in our division and we have a minor leaguer with no ability to hit (.200 OBP)playing 3rd base. I would take the Nationals lineup over ours right now (Guzman, Johnson, Zimmerman, Dunn, Dukes, Willingham). They would be decent if they had our pitching.
June 4, 200915 yr The nats have always had a good lineup. That'll happen when you get 7 corner outfielders and first basemen on your roster. And with his secret bunker in his mom's basement and aluminum foil helmet, wildmarlin is ready for any panic. Bring it the f*** on, he says.
June 4, 200915 yr I never panic, especially with more than 100 games left to play. If we keep playing how we have been playing lately and mix in a couple of winning streaks along the way we will be right in the mix of things... you can't worry about how other teams are doing, the Phillies are hot right now but they will cool off, that's how baseball works, that' is unless they win 120 and they we don't have anything to worry about anyways.
June 4, 200915 yr I would take the Nationals lineup over ours right now (Guzman, Johnson, Zimmerman, Dunn, Dukes, Willingham). They would be decent if they had our pitching. The 22 under .500 Nationals? Jeez. You must be one helluva masochist.

Where the Nationals have always messed up is in getting that players to surround their good ones. That, and trading for outfielders constantly.
June 4, 200915 yr The Nationals can hit this year...but their pitching and defense hurt them (Especially in the OF) so they lose almost every game 9 to 7 or something like that
