The love affair for Hermida continues....yawn. Let's watch another 0-4, 2 K game.

.369 BA, .429 OBP in his last 57 ABs. DFA him.

I was going to make the same request of him

Awesome. Hermida is so unclutch, as proven by WMM once again.

I heard his bat was corked because he's so unclutch that he has to cheat so the home run doesn't count and everyone has to get dressed to continue playing.

Good game hermida. Dont forget that if that scrub makes that play on the fly ball in the third (not an easy play but a play that a major league RF should make) this game wouldnt have been this close.

He still sucks, you guys need to stop being blinded by your malins bias. I really hope the scrub proves me wrong, but he is a proven scrub and he is not going to be anything in this league.

I don't want to get suspended again. Why must you make it so hard?

So what we've learned from this thread:

Jeremy Hermida is more like Junior Felix than Brett Carroll is like Chris Aguila.

God, this is so bad. Oh, dear lord. Do you even look at stats before you type stuff?

Who the hell is he?

And we all know that Aguila has more potential in his left foot then BC does in his entire body.

ok bobbob I want you to describe to me the player that you think Hermida is, just so I know what we are disagreeing on. Maybe if we know our differences we can come to a common understanding on Hermida. Give me a scouting report of Hermida when you get a chance.

Here is mine:

Cant hit for average (career 265 hitter)

Doesnt have good corner outfield power( 49 Hrs in 1,482 career abats)

One of the consistently worse defensive outfielders I have ever watched (all you need is two eyes for this one)

poor situational hitter that doesnt drive in alot of runs ( 186 RBI in 1,482 career at bats)

Average speed at best

Good arm

patient

There is no way any of you can disagree with any of this.

I am not saying BC is the answer all I am saying is that Hermida is a proven scrub so we should give Carroll a shot. In my opinion Bonifacio isnt a proven scrub and maybe he can turn it around, which is why Carroll should play at the expense of Scrubmida. I agree with you guys that BC probably isnt the answer but give him a shot b/c at the very least you get a gold glove caliber outfielder that cant hit.

Watch me disagree with it...

Regarding his defense, according to +/- (which takes into account balls that an "average" player makes and difficulty based on trajectory and such) Hermida has been an average (slightly above/below) OFer his whole career.

In his career, his situational hitting has been fine: .279/.371/.430 with RISP, .282/.362/.450 with Men On, .260/.352/.450 when Late & Close, what more do you want from the guy? Babe Ruth?

And, in one instance you say he can't hit for average, but in actuality, he's reaching base at nearly a .350 clip, which is very very solid. Get off his nuts already.

Hermida is a young player with a ton of upside. He killed it in the minors, something neither BC or Bonifacio can say (outside of Carroll in Albuqurque)

He has shown flashes of being a great hitter, including his 2007 campaign, where he posted an .870.

He appears to be a fairly absent minded fielder who nonetheless has decent range, a good arm, and makes most of the plays he should make.

You are bringing up absolutely retarded points. Batting average doesn't matter, RBIs don't matter. He doesn't have great power, but he's also 25. Power can develop as he ages (not saying it will, saying it can.)

"poor situational hitter": PWG already went over that with his numbers in "clutch" (or whatever) situations, so you obviously don't pay attention.

I very much remain of the opinion that given the opportunity, Hermida can be Paul O'Neill. If I thought you even knew how to process numbers, I'd suggest you go look at his early career and how it parallels with Hermida.

Now, if you want to argue it isn't prudent for the Marlins to be patient with him and they can't afford to wait it out for his breakout season, that's one thing. That's a good argument against Hermida long term.

But you aren't arguing that. You are arguing that two guys with half of the pedigree of him and about a quarter of the Major league success deserve to play over him. That is simply ludicrous. By any measure, he's been one of our 5 best hitters this season, and he continues to put up very good OBP numbers. Brett Carroll and Emilio Bonifacio technically haven't failed yet, but that isn't the best argument for benching Hermida in their favor. That's a terrible argument. "These two guys who clearly aren't as good as him, have less potential, and have shown less than him should start over him!"

Dumb.

I'm not sure why I'm doing this. You have always been this guy, no matter what. Probably half of your posts are about Hermida being a scrub.

My favorite was when you didn't post from August 2007 until the offseason because you had nothing to rip on Hermida about. You're a troll, plain and simple. Each of your lost 12 posts has been about Hermida, and a vast majority before that were too. You simply bring nothing to the table except "he suckzzzz"

I'm trying my hardest to be more 'polite' tonight because I don't want to catch another mod on a bad night, but if I ran this place, you'd have been out of here a long time ago. You don't bring anything to the table, and you obviously just troll for Hermida discussions so you can post the same crap over and over and over again.

Luckily for you, I don't run this place, nor do I have the ability to stop myself from feeding your trolling.

ok to respond:

1. Pitching win games just actually called Hermida an average defensive outfielder...................you have officially lost speaking privileges, your judgment is obviously horrendous

2. bobbob responds to some of may arguements by admitting he doesnt have great power and stating "Batting average doesnt matter, RBIs dont matter"........Those are very quality statements, yea BA and RBI are very pointless stats.......so are TDS and yards in football and points and rebounds in basketball.....

3 bobbob You then further state that BC has only had a quarter of the sucess that Hermida has had. Two things very wrong with this statement. 1. You imply that Hermida has had a sucessfull career when in reality he has been a scrub (except for 2007 when he got really hot AFTER the team fell way out of contention)(only a loser scrub has the hottest streak of his career during by far his team's worst season of the carreer) 2. Obvisouly BC hasnt had one quarter the sucess Srubmida has.......he has only had a little over 100 ABS to Hermida's 1400, but another quality statement from you

4. Core parts of your agument state that he showed potential (ok true but weak, alot of scrubes have showed potential) , he has decent range(which is clearly false), his 260 career BA in close and late situations is something to be proud of, he might become Paul O'neil (true, but I would say he has a better chance of becoming Ghandi)

You do have a valid point about me only writing to complain about Hermida. The reason I often write on this topic is because I agree with what ERIK has to say about 95% of the time. Therefore I find no need to repeat what Erick has to say just in different words. I am usually just a reader of the boards and I find it useless to express my beliefs when for the most part I agree with what is being said. The only subjects I disagree with alot of you guys on I talk about (not a big fan of fredi, the need to play more small ball, Hermida)

I, honestly, have no clue what you mean. I'm assuming there's another Erick on this board b/c I have never said any of this.
