June 9, 200917 yr I know Fredi keeps saying Carroll will play vs. lefties but I'd like to see him have the majority of the playing time and push Bonifacio out of the lineup and Coghlan to 3rd. Carroll is now hitting .270 and just needs some regular playing time. In the minors, he was a VERY good doubles hitter. He is the best defensively we have the OF in our system. When I was at Wrigley batting practice in May, he launched about 15 straight homers. I think he could be a solid RFer in the future with Juan Encarnacion type offensive numbers (.270-.280 and 15 HR) but we will see.

This just pisses me more about Fredi, he flat out refused to play Carroll last season and was pretty much following the same trend this year. If Amezaga wouldn't have gotten hurt, Carroll would never have gotten a chance of any kind with the parent club. I have to say that Amezaga's injury has been more of a gift rather than anything else

June 9, 200917 yr Id rather have Carroll in RF then anyone right now he has a cannon out there! With him in RF, and ROSS in CF I think that's solid, and while Hermida has been awfull this year he has been much better then Bonerfaker so I would ask for Emilio to be DFA over anyone else... Chris Coghlan should be our everyday 3rd baseman...
June 9, 200917 yr It's really funny that people think Caroll will be a better player than Hermida. Want to know a funny fact? Hermida is almost a year and a half younger than Carroll! And yet Hermida is the future 4th outfielder (despite success at the major league level) and Carroll deserves to start over him because of one good game. I love you guys.

Maybe he isn't going to develop into a longterm option as his prospect status and 2007 season hinted at, but he's the best we got right now. He's not going to not-slug forever either. Second, by all means move Coghlan to 3B and Carroll to RF, and just spell them with Helms and Gload. Anyone is better than Bonifacio. He's that bad. I'm guessing Bonifacio is demoted the second Amezaga is back.
June 9, 200917 yr Yeah, sure. I won't disagree with that. Is there anyone who honestly believes that Hermida isn't more skilled than Carroll? Excluding people who wear tin foil hats and other such people who have shown a repeated limited baseball intelligence? Carroll should play over Bonifacio. Sure. He'll probably out OPS him at this point. You do have to hand it to Carroll, he's killed since 2007 in the minors, but he's shown even less than Hermida at the major league level. Does anyone think Carroll will ever come close to Hermida's .870 OPS in 07? If he plays every day, defenses real hard and puts up a .700 OPS he's miles ahead of Bonifacio. But to say he should start over Hermida is dumb. You know who Brett Carroll is, and I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier. Brett Carroll is Chris Aguila!

Personally, I think he should be given that opportunity at Hermida's expense over Emilio's. Hermida is a proven scrub who cant hit, field or run. Emilio is an unproven scrub, yes he has played like a scrub but he hasnt proven his permanent scrubness as Hermida has. So maybe if we give him a little longer his play will improve. Im sure Fredi is the only person on earth who would rather have Emilio hitting in the two hole over Baker.

June 9, 200917 yr Now is the perfect time to move CC to 3rd! Boner is struggling so we are gonna give him some days off and Coghlan can move to 3rd, Hermida to Left Field and Keep BC in right while he's hot. Eventually he should cool down but hopefully thats not anytime soon.
June 9, 200917 yr Considering that Carroll has actually put up some outstanding AAA numbers and is a great defensive outfielder, I'm happy to see him get some at bats, but I think a lot of the people on this thread are getting a little carried away over a couple nice hits. Even Matt Treanor had some good hits every now and then. Carroll is going to get some more PT, he's earned it. But he isn't gonna outperform Hermida, even though most of us can agree that his production has been disappointing.

When bringing up Hermida's stats I love how you left out he has the 2nd lowest SLG and the 2nd lowest OPS on the team.
June 9, 200917 yr why do ppl want coghlan over bonifcio coghlan is onl hitting .225 To Coghlan's credit he's shown significant improvement since being called up and the numbers really are not representative of that improvement.
