June 24, 200917 yr I would say Lindstrom will be our closer and will be a very good closer if he ever gets his head on straight. His problem is not his pitching per se but it is his testicular fortitude. He seems to give up a hit to the first batter and start himself in a hole, or get 2 outs quickly and struggle getting the 3rd out. All this translates to composure. Please someone give him an IV of Ice Water right away! I think its time to call up Nate Fields from New Orleans who has been pitching fairly well, DFA Sanches who is basically worthless. I would set up a closer by committee between Nunez, Fields and Lindstrom moving their different roles around for awhile until something that fits our needs develops. Who know maybe Lindstrom can reclaim his job back or Fields might be the answer to the closer problem. We gotta try something because this is absurd
June 24, 200917 yr DFA Sanches who is basically worthless. I stopped reading when I got to this. Do you even watch the same freakin' games we do?! OK Sanches has a 1.37 WHIP but he has a 0.59 ERA. Jesus some people on this board astound me.
June 24, 200917 yr I would really like to see Nate Fields up at some point. The guy has been bouncing around AAA for a while but he has always been one of the best pitchers at that level. It would be a shame to see him not get a shot at some point and with all the movement we've had its a little surprising he hasn't been up.
June 24, 200917 yr YES!!! Lets bring up Fields, oh wait there is a reason he's a AAAA player, he does well in triple A but not so good in MLB. Did we forget his one game audition from 2007? With his 27.00 ERA. As for Sanches his story is very similar to Fields, but he and Calero appear to be this years version of Gardner and Nelson.

Yeah, one game, two years ago does not make the end-all, be-all. If the FO deems Nate ready, then call him up.
June 24, 200917 yr So what about the Useless Sanches do you want to DFA? His 0.59 ERA? Let him atleast fail before you call him useless. As for people calling Calero this year's miracle reliever, it's not particularly fair. He has a career 3.38 ERA, including two seasons with ERA's under 3 before this year. We just managed to get a proven reliever for no money somehow.

June 24, 200917 yr So Brian Sanches and his .59 ERA suck (yes, small sample, and he's been lucky)...your answer is Nate Field? Lets replace a journeyman with a...journeyman? This thread makes no sense.
June 24, 200917 yr yeah Eddie you basically gave yourself a bad name after saying to DFA Sanches I love that guy.

This thread makes no sense. I wouldn't put so much emphasis on the ERA of middle relievers who often times come in in the middle of innings when there are already one or two outs. The guy has pitched well but I don't think a 0.59 ERA (which is beyond fantastic) is not indicative of his performance.

And while an ERA is not the main thing to go by, it's also not something to completely ignore. Looking at his current #'s + the relievers going on the DL now, it's quite stupid to even consider DFA'ing Sanches. (and then talking up Nate Field, in the process)

I know that, but not even that explains how we got him as an invitee. Other guys were in similar situations and got at least a guaranteed ML contract.
June 26, 200917 yr This is a useless thread and thats all i can say!~ brian sanchez does the job when he is called upon it dont look great but he gets it done!~

Jesus some people on this board astound me. A 1.37 Whip doesnt really justify a .59 ERA. Unless he gets his 4.7 BB rate down, he might be on some shi* lists pretty soon.
June 27, 200917 yr Apropos of nothing: Brian Sanches only will get tagged for one run tonight, but he grooved out right down the middle and Upton crushed it for the win. So, yeah, ERAs can be deceiving.
