August 7, 200916 yr Read this on the comments. Ross was great in center last year but the metrics are very conflicting on his work in the outfield. He's got a lot of pop but he still only has a .319 OBP this season. I think he's done great in CF.
August 7, 200916 yr Basically what MarlinsLou has been saying for months now. Keep him down till September.
August 8, 200916 yr Ross is an excellent CF! Think back to all our CF in the past he might end up being the best we have had there since Devon White.

I highly doubt that defensive stats are ever going to be able to tell the full story.

I have a hard time rating Pierre that high because his arm was absolutely laughable. When players stretch routine singles into doubles, you know there is a problem.

August 8, 200916 yr Lets see---who here would liek to rank these in order--- these are just off the top of my head. Chuck Carr Devon White Preston Wilson Juan Pierre Reggie Abercrombie Cody Ross Alejandro De Aza Cameron Maybin (so far, not potential) Joe Borchard Alfredo Amezega

Chuck Carr Devon White Preston Wilson Juan Pierre Reggie Abercrombie Cody Ross Alejandro De Aza Cameron Maybin (so far, not potential) Joe Borchard Alfredo Amezega With no thought of potential, I'd go: I'd go Cody, Wilson, JP/Devo... uh... Chucky/Amezaga, then Maybin/Abercrombie/DeAza. Borchard never played CF for us.

If Maybin turns into Reggie Abercrombie in anyway (or Alejandro De Aza, for that matter), I'm going to be quite disappointed.

He was literally asking only about past contributions, what has been done.

August 8, 200916 yr if maybin becomes another abercrombie or de aza, i have a feeling hills fired and beinfest becomes the GM again.
August 8, 200916 yr if maybin becomes another abercrombie or de aza, i have a feeling hills fired and beinfest becomes the GM again. It's just a title. Beinfest is the de facto GM.
August 8, 200916 yr Junior Felix Moises Alou Mark Kotsay Kotsay is a CF I think, the other two were LF's I believe. Alou for sure was a LF.
August 8, 200916 yr and as for the arguement at hand, the system itself could use a lot of work but: http://www.marlinsbaseball.com/forums/topic/87248-best-cf-seasons-of-all-time/page__hl__alou__fromsearch__1
August 8, 200916 yr Devo was great in CF, my defensive ranking is: Devo Cody Amezaga Chucky Preston JP The rest has been there for too short of a time...
August 8, 200916 yr Basically what MarlinsLou has been saying for months now. Keep him down till September. Damn right. This is old news. Don't call him up unless he's the difference between playoffs and no-playoffs. If not, late August/September. The later the safer.
August 8, 200916 yr If maybin stays down until Sept 1st, can he still play in the post season? Not unless another outfielder presently on the roster is injured or otherwise unable to play. But I'm not sure that the author's math is exactly on point I'd rather Nny do the math.
