August 27, 200917 yr I think its time to move cantu back a spot to 5th or 6th.He's clearly not hitting like earlier in the year maybe a break from clean up will take alittle pressure off and allow him to heat up for the middle of september.Im not sure who I would put their but I really think this could help cantu return to form like earlier this year.He was a big reason why we got off to such a great start this year, And we need him to really get hot again.
August 27, 200917 yr With his contact rates I'm fine with him being 4th. It'd be different if somebody really stuck out but our 4-8 is more or less interchangable. With his ability to put the ball in play I want him in RISP spots.
August 27, 200917 yr cantu is more of a 3rd or 5th hitter in the lineup but we really don't have anyone better to hit behind hanley. the only other option would be uggla and i trust cantu way more to put the ball in play to drive in a run
August 27, 200917 yr cantu is having a horrendous august...I think it's time to move him down and put uggla in.
August 27, 200917 yr this should be the lineup until johnson returns coghlan baker hanley uggla cantu ross maybin gload
August 27, 200917 yr this should be the lineup until johnson returns coghlan baker hanley uggla cantu ross maybin gload Maybin over Hermida against RHP?
August 27, 200917 yr I would honestly put Cody 5th and Cantu 6th. Or even Hermida 6th and Cantu 7th to give Cantu chances with Hermida's OBP. And the gap betwen Cody/Cantu in AVG and OBP really isn't very large at this point.
August 27, 200917 yr this should be the lineup until johnson returns coghlan baker hanley uggla cantu ross maybin gload Maybin over Hermida against RHP? most of the time yes. as long as hes gonna be up here i want him playing, and hermida has proven he wont be anything special, and he wont be anything more then a terrible fielder who will just be able to hit rhp at an average rate.
August 27, 200917 yr this should be the lineup until johnson returns coghlan baker hanley uggla cantu ross maybin gload I disagree, this should be our lineup for the rest of the season 2B Chris Coghlan SS Chris Coghlan 3B Chris Coghlan RF Chris Coghlan LFChris Coghlan CF Chris Coghlan C: Chris Coghlan 1B Chris Coghlan P Cody Ross
First, Hermida is not a terrible fielder. Second, he is above average vs RHP. Third, Maybin has proven nothing at the MLB level and to just assume that he is going to put up an .800 OPS vs RHP is idiotic.

Third, Maybin has proven nothing at the MLB level and to just assume that he is going to put up an .800 OPS vs RHP is idiotic. first, yes he is. he has an average arm and takes terrible routes to balls and is just an all around bad fielder. 2nd- he sucks vs leftys and sucks in clutch situations, that more then makes up for the only facet of his game that he is above average against. 3rd-if we were going to keep him down for this long just for his arbitration status, he will be playing a lot. hermida wont be here next year, so he is the obvious choice not to play and is easily the worst of we have. maybin is supposed to be the future and we need to see if he really is. If that takes out a horrible fielder who only hits rhp at an above average rate as the only good facet of his game, then so be it

If that takes out a horrible fielder who only hits rhp at an above average rate as the only good facet of his game, then so be it He actually has a good arm and occasionally takes bad routes to the ball, yet so does Ross and people never seem to complain about him. Last time I heard, Hermida was at +9 this season, which is above average. We're not talking about LHP, I was referring to RHP. Being clutch isn't even a measurement. For the last time, Hermida is not a terrible fielder, and he is above average vs RHP. Maybin had a .589 OPS earlier this season in limited time. For you to just think that he will come up and do great is foolish. Hermida isn't the worst we have at this moment. He is better than Ross vs RHP, and he is about tied with Coghlan. You don't make your team worse, even if it is preparing for the future, while you are in the middle of a playoff race. When he gets the call up, I would play Maybin against LHP, and maybe an occasional RHP start.

Ross makes up for his bad routes, and has a very good arm, and plays a tougher of position. so because he can hit rhp, we should continue to play him, yet that is the only thing does well? dude, its ok to admit someone is a bust. at best this guy should be in a platoon dh role in the al, and i wouldnt be surprised to see him doing that next year. and you cant measure clutch, but hermida does have these spectacular numbers, .222 with risp 2 outs, .245 with risp, and 46 k's when runners are on, which shows you he doesnt do the little things like moving runners up well. maybin has improved on those things, and if he is coming up, he will be playing, sorry. time to just admit when he is a bust, because you know he is. at most hermida will be in a platoon role. and yes, at the moment hermida is the worst we have. when healthy, hermida is our worst hitter, and one of our worst fielders. and we arent really becoming worse. at the least we are improving the defense and our team vs lhp, while getting a major part of our future some valuable experience, especially in the middle of a playoff race, although we really arent contenders anyway imo.

It doesn't surprise me that you have no statistical evidence to prove any of your points except trying to use batting average as proof of a meaningless point on a meaningless statistic. If by "bust", you mean that he won't be the player he was hyped up to be, then yes, you could say that he is a "bust". That doesn't mean that he is a bad player though. And you do realize that Hermida is hitting RHP better this year than Maybin has hit RHP throughout his entire minor league career, right?

And again, you don't provide any evidence that Hermida is a bad fielder. I haven't seen much of Maybin except for what we saw earlier in the season, so I can't really judge his defense yet, but he sure didn't look like a great defensive player in his short stint up here. He might develop more power as he progresses, but he doesn't have that much power right now, which is what matters for this season. Again, you have no idea what Maybin will do when he gets called up. I highly doubt, though, that the FO makes the decision to sit Hermida out vs RHP and play Maybin.
August 27, 200917 yr FishDynasty, you're wasting your time arguing with him. He's backing up his statemants with hate, so there is no point in trying to prove him wrong.
August 27, 200917 yr FishDynasty, you're wasting your time arguing with him. He's backing up his statemants with hate, so there is no point in trying to prove him wrong. Yeah, this. Unfortunately. hermz is da wurzt, 4shur
August 27, 200917 yr FishDynasty, you're wasting your time arguing with him. He's backing up his statemants with hate, so there is no point in trying to prove him wrong. I know that, because I know his history. Just bored at the moment, and getting tired of the same crap over and over again.

I highly doubt, though, that the FO makes the decision to sit Hermida out vs RHP and play Maybin. once again, why do you continue just to leave off lhp? i gave you that,, sure, he can hit rhp at an average to above average rate. he still has a lower ops then all of them. i never said he has a lower ops then them against rhp. at least those other guys have respectable ops's against lhps's, hermidas is awful, which is basically playing right into my point, he is a platoon player in the al. he is a bad right fielder. just f***ing watch him. anytime you commit, 9, and 8 and 5 errors the last 3 years, you are not a good rf. and its not like he has some amazing arm, 29th in assists this year and was tied for last last year. no, we dont know what he will do, but if he isnt having a mirage 4 months in aaa, he has made tremendous strides hitting wise and deserves a chance to start. hes replacing a mediocre player, its well worth the risk
August 27, 200917 yr Best part - Hermida has ZEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOO errors this year in RF. And just 1 the entire season. Good job h2r. Can you start cursing more so we can have you banned, please?
August 27, 200917 yr errors and assists FTW granted, errors and assists arent a great way to judge fielders, but when you lead the league almost every year in errors and never are close to the top in assists, you arent a good right fielder with a good arm as he was saying.
