September 6, 200916 yr Matt Forte RB - I've always liked Forte, should provide numbers similar to last season's Kurt Warner QB - Old guy still does it... maybe not 4k yarda again, but 3-3.5k + 30TDs = Sweet, man Ryan Grant RB - Another solid RB Ronnie Brown RB - Another solid RB Santonio Holmes WR - Best WR available, 1000 yard caliber with his share of TDs Antonio Bryant WR - Same as above Bernard Berrian WR - Did great with Jackson and co. throwing to him, can't be worse with Favre Lance Moore WR - TD Machine John Carlson TE - Sleeper TE that I really like, especially with Hasselbeck healthy and Houshmanzadeh opening things Jonathan Stewart RB - OMG why was he still here? (yes, injured, but still) Bears DST - Dat Devin Hester ST and Bears are usually solid Muhsin Muhammed WR - Consistent WR option Marc Bulger QB - GREAT backup option Kris Brown K - lol kicker Cheers and Jeers ya'll

Fitz, Johnson, Boldin... etc etc etc had all been taken. But, I guess as a head to head, we can compare starting lineups: QB - Kurt Warner vs Aaron Rodgers: I think calling a "Push" is fair, either could be a bit better than the other though RB - LT vs Matt Forte: Ignoring league specific rules, Forte doesn't have the injury question mark and is a consensus top 5 pick. Forte wins. RB - Thomas Jones vs Ryan Grant: Grant wins, he's just better by enough of a margin. WR - Andre Johnson vs Santonio Holmes: Andre Johnson wins, hands down. WR - Eddie Royal vs Antonio Bryant: Push, if not slight edge to Bryant, very similar. WR - Derrick Mason vs Berrian/Moore: (not sure who my starter is yet) Mason is an aging Mr Consistent, but Berrian is a potential 1000 yard receiver and Moore was a TD machine TE - Dallas Clark vs John Carlson: Clark wins, but if he gets injured it could make it closer (Clark does get injured a lot, it seems) DST - Ravens vs Bears: Ravens have the better D, Bears the better ST with Hester... Ravens get the edge. K - They're all really interchangeable In conclusion, I do believe I'm already on that level, probably heading to the elevator to move on up
September 7, 200916 yr Forte is too much of a risk---LT wins, hands down. My opinion, 1200 yards, 7 tds's out of forte, hardly worth the number two overall. Maybe that's why I picked up Brees 3 overall in a 10 team league, after AP and MJD were gone. I prefer to pick in the 9th or 10th slot though.
September 7, 200916 yr I hate to be critical, but I think you have a lot of overrated players, PWG. Anyways...this is mine (and I don't think it's too good right now, either) QB-Drew Brees (NO) RB-Pierre Thomas (NO) RB-Marshawn Lynch (BUF) Flex-Anthony Gonzalez (IND) WR-Andre Johnson (HOU) WR-Marques Colston (NO) TE-Jeremy Shockey (NO) D/ST-Vikings K-John Carney (NO) Bench QB-Donovan McNabb (PHI) RB-Cedric Benson (CIN) RB-Fred Jackson (BUF) WR-Kevin Walter (HOU) WR-Donnie Avery (STL) D/ST-Chargers Basically, I built my team around Drew Brees after taking him in the 2nd round. I wish I could've gotten Reggie Bush, but he was taken a couple of picks before I was about to take him. I hate having a guy like Pierre Thomas, and not having his complimentary back (hence the reason I took Fred Jackson to compliment Lynch...Jackson will also be a starter for 3 weeks, at least, so that works out well). It's not a great team, but it's not bad, and I have options to make trades. (hoping to get good value for McNabb later on in the year) I'm also thinking about trading the Vikings D/ST, since I got my sleeper D/ST in the Chargers. My biggest whatever pick was my tight end. I'm not big on Shockey, but I took a chance, since my team was already looking NO oriented, anyways. I figure everytime Brees throws a TD, I'll not only get points for his TD's, but from the guys who caught them, as well. Considering, they're one of the best offenses in the NFL, I don't think it's a bad deal. If Shockey doesn't pan out, whatever. Guys like Shiancoe are free agents. There are a lot of solid tight ends this year, it seems.

I thought you were being a terrible homer there lol, sorry. Makes sense then. Basically my concept was to have someone ranked 1-5 in every position, I achieved that. Warner v. Rodgers Warner's got the receivers but the age. Forte v. LT LT wins in my league but loses in yours if all goes well for the both of them. Jones v. Grant Jones has the RBs hunting for his spot but Grant wont see the ball in the endzone either. Royal v. Bryant Brandon Marshall situation will make a huge effect on this decision. Very, very similar teams I'd say. You've drafted well and so have I, anything beyond the draft is considerable luck, other than managing your starters. If your players bust, there was nothing you could have done to see it coming in most cases.

If your players bust, there was nothing you could have done to see it coming in most cases. That's fair enough, my goal this year was depth at the skill positions and I feel I achieved that, I'll be able to use match-ups very effectively, barring the unforeseen. I almost didn't even bother with a backup QB, in order to snag another skill player, still might explore that option.

There are a lot of solid tight ends this year, it seems. Don't lie, you love to be critical, haha I dunno about overrated, I mean... Warner is just flat out proven, he's done it again and again and this year may have the benefit of a run game, yes it may dampen some volume numbers, but it also opens up bigger plays and such. Forte is an exceptional back and so is Grant, Forte was the feature back in a run-heavy offense, so he proved he can handle it and the Packers offense is fine. Brown is a rock solid 3rd RB, and I have Stewart who put up amazing numbers splitting carries. WR is a little more dicey, but like I said, Holmes is basically a 1000 yard receiver, Berrian too... Bryant's done it and now has more weapons around him, potentially lowering the risk of double teams. Lance Moore was a TD machine and Im sure he developed some sort of rapport with Brees, that's not suddenly going to disappear and Muhsin Muhammed is my worst WR, but is still very reliable and a good red zone target. TE depth this year was definitely better than most, Carlson was one of several very intriguing picks to be my TE, so it was essentially just a grab bag, I didn't plan on getting an "elite" TE, just a good one. And, re: Defense, I plan on playing matchups more than anything, but having the Bears defense in your back pocket is always good, especially with Hester starting to return punts.

QB is fine if Warner stays healthy. Forte is great, but Grant had 4 TD's last year, and Brown's #'s come in inconsistent spurts. Your WR's are decent, I guess. Antonio Bryant had a career year last year, though. It was only his 2nd 1,000+ yard season. He also has a pretty mediocre QB throwing him the ball, again, this year. Not sure if he can repeat his performance. Moore will get his touches, but Colston is back this year, so I'd expect less. The thing you have going for you is depth, I would say. Like you can look at matchups week by week, and decide that way. I like VORP's team a little more, though. Anyways, what do you think about my team? (yes, I know I have a lot of New Orleans Saints...but aside from that...overall?)

I almost didn't even bother with a backup QB, in order to snag another skill player, still might explore that option. We've got extended benches just so that nobody can refine talent from free agency, or at least not good enough to make a difference in standings. I was lucky enough to grab Chad Pennington in like the 14th round or something. My bench looks ugly, but you've got to take into effect that it's 11 bench players and 12 teams, so you're looking at 20 rounds or so in the draft of 12 teams. Le'Ron McClain Ted Ginn Jr. Mushin Muhammad Chad Pennington Antwaan Randle El Anthony Fasano Michael Bush Dominic Rhodes (just got cut, still holding on though lol) Isaac Bruce (steal) Heath Miller Warrick Dunn (still without a team) John Carney all picked in that order if I'm not mistaken.

September 9, 200916 yr This might be silly, but I just dropped the Vikings defense. Picked up Mike Bell, as Pierre Thomas is more than likely not playing Week 1. I need more people in the skill positions...hopefully, one of the RB's emerge. I've decided to play matchups with my D/ST, weekly.
