October 9, 200917 yr Ok locks to be added 1Winters 2Cousins 3Morrison Then Raynor, Allison, Burns, K. Harvey, Mobley, Penn, Sinkbiel I'd say we probably protect Penn from becoming a Free Agent (Had a good year in NOLA). Raynor we probably protect simply because a team might take a Rule V flier on him even after his horrible year. I mean, worse come worse, he's an awesome 25th man PR with decent potential, why not take him? Probably should be up in locks. Doubt Allison, Mobley, Burns, Harvey, and Sink have done enough to warrant Rule V protection, though only real Q being Sink with "first round pick" still tatoo'd on his forehead.
October 10, 200917 yr I am completely enamored with the possibility of getting [Mazzone]...to the point where I would be sorely disappointed if the Marlins don't make the move because it makes too much sense. As far as I know, no teams are pursuing him at the moment. I read a couple of months ago that he is just waiting for a team to hire him. I think the Marlins should engage in negotiations immediately before other teams start firing their coaches after the playoffs. From Juan C. Rodriguez's Sun Sentinel Blog: "One name you can cross off the prospective pitching coach list is Leo Mazzone. Though manager Fredi Gonzalez knows him from their days together with the Braves, the Marlins do not consider him a candidate to replace Wiley."
October 10, 200917 yr I think the pitching coach will be Rosenthal. That would be my guess too, but it's 100% speculation.
October 10, 200917 yr I think the pitching coach will be Rosenthal. That would be my guess too, but it's 100% speculation. My guess also, as I said a few days ago. Until I read he wasn't an option. Think it was in the PBP but not sure. From within, look for either the AAA or AA PC to get the call. But there are some outside candidates as well. No real rush in naming him. Take the time and make the right choice.
October 10, 200917 yr My pal John Burkett would make a great pitching coach. John couldn't even clean his name off the balls I wanted to buy, what makes you think he could pitch.

October 11, 200917 yr Remind us again what he's been doing the last 6 or 7 years? :lol :lol :lol Hey, we could get Byung-Hyun Kim to coach. He's only been running his sushi joint in California for a couple years; he's probably itching to land a coaching job. He could teach them how to catch cat-naps.

That's not the point.John is still very much into baseball.
