Posted December 25, 200915 yr Though Florida non-tendered Alfredo Amezaga earlier this month, "both sides have mutual interest" in seeing the utilityman back in the teal-and-black. Amezaga played in just 27 games last season due to knee surgery, and was non-tendered since he likely would have earned an arbitration raise from his 2009 salary of $1.3MM. If the Fish are hoping to sign Amezaga at a lower price, however, they'll have to make a better offer than the other 10 teams interested in Amezaga's services. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/12/marlins-notes-amezaga-uggla-coghlan.html
December 25, 200915 yr Yep, Bonifacio is starting next season.   I was sooo going to say the same thing. Merry Christmas to everyone, btw.

December 26, 200915 yr The Marlins should just let him go. Use his money on something else the team needs.

Don't hate Amezaga I just felt he was badly overused. He was the worse CF in the league. He was just left there as an embarassment to the whole Marlins community...Then to make matters worse Fredi had him leading off! I don't even wanna remember those days
December 28, 200915 yr Worst CenterFielder in the league? I think you're over exaggerating.   And that's just not allowed around here.
December 28, 200915 yr Worst CenterFielder in the league? I think you're over exaggerating.  Which CF did you think was worst than Amezaga at that time?
December 28, 200915 yr Worst CenterFielder in the league? I think you're over exaggerating.  Which CF did you think was worst than Amezaga at that time? Worst offensively or defensively? Defensively, there were a bunch. Offensively, guys like Carlos Gomez, Willy Taveras and Michael Borne come to mind. Also, Fredi really didn't lead him off that much. The year they finally pulled Hanley out of the leadoff spot they were already making Cody Ross the starting CF.
December 28, 200915 yr Amezaga is a great clubhouse guy. I remember last season when I was at Wrigley, he made 2 or 3 stud defensive plays- and I heard the Cubs were interested in him. If no team is willing to pay him because of the injury, the Marlins should do everything they can to retain him. Â Helms, Amezaga, Carroll, Bonifacio (possibly starting), Gaby, Paulino.....our bench is pretty good

December 29, 200915 yr I agree with others that like Amezaga. If nothing else, he makes for a good defensive replacement/4th outfielder.

December 29, 200915 yr Amezaga is a good utility player my problem was not as much with him but with Fredi who entirely overused him and misused him...Fredi can't help himself I believe he likes the dance

Michael Bourn played in 157 games for the Astros last season and he was 173 for 606 (.285 avg, .738 OPS) with 97 runs scored, 3 homers, 35 RBIs and 61 stolen bases.
