Miller, Leroux, Hayes to New Orleans

Featured Replies

How do you do this Admin? Do they let you know before the players?

I would love to see Miller get his act together and help with the rotation this season. I'm sure Leroux and Hayes will be up as needed throughout the season.

Sure looks like Hensley will be our fifth starter. He's earned it.

So one bullpen spot left? It looks like it's down to Penn and RVH. I'm going with RVH.

Here is the Result of Spring Battle...

Fifth Starter : Hensley (60%)

1st Baseman : Gaby Sanchez (90%)

25th player : Barden, Lamb and Petersen (still up in the air)

I agree. He was pretty good for NOLA last season then put up the best ST of anyone on the team.

What makes this interesting is that Josh Johnson has just been scratched, won't pitch today and in his place the Fish are going with Hayden Penn, who save one really bad appearance has had a good spring, and more importantly is out of options vs. tomorrow's starter Clay Hensley who while signed to a minor league deal can opt-out and declare his free agency if he doesn't make the Opening Day roster.

What if Hensley blows up and Penn shines? Or they both blow up? Or they both have quality starts? There's so many permutations to the theme...

I think the rotation is pretty much set now. I don't think one bad start from Hensley is going to affect things one way or the other unless he walks a tons of guys. For Penn to make his way up the depth chart he's going to have to put up nothing but zeros. I honestly don't trust his stuff.

Prin, everyone here knows where my sympathies are when it comes to Hensley and I expect him to do well Saturday. Keep in mind though this IS his first start, all his other appearances have been later in games against mixed lineups and this will be the first time he faces a fully stocked major league lineup. And for Penn his career, or at least his career with this franchise is on the line with this start. So both players have a lot on the line.

Does Bonifacio have any options left? Cause I think Barden and Lamb have both played well enough to earn spots on our roster.
