Not really. We have our set-up guy (Hensley) and closer that should be able to take care of opposing hitters, lefties or righties. Your lefty specialist is usually reserved for before the 8th inning if you're winning.

I mean, I like Hensley too right now and I get that, but Howard is a fantastic hitter and Tank has been his personal tormentor throughout their careers. If Clay doesn't go 1-2-3 then Howard comes up. The way Dobbs has been hitting we probably didn't need to waste Tank there.

 

That said, if Clay goes 1-2-3 it's unnecessary.

Yeah, I think Anibal could have gotten a struggling Gregg Dobbs out. If its a hot hitter, I make the move, but its not.

Anibal was at 104 pitches, and this really only matters with Howard, anyway. Not Utley. Also, Hensley has dominated left-handed hitters thus far this year. Whether he does or not today is unknown, but he's gotten it done all year.

You shouldn't waste your best LOOGY vs a .133 hitter. You don't NEED use him but what happened is Clay struggles a little..
