Posted July 7, 201014 yr comment_1197928 i just saw on espn that a rangers fan that was trying to catch a foul ball hit by nelson cruz fell 30 feet and was injured. apparently the man was conscious and responsive and was taken to the emergency room. the reactions from the ump, cruz, and trevor crowe made it look bad and devastating. i hope the guy is okay. here's the video, it doesn't show the actual fall so no need to worry. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vf3Z0gwo73I Link to comment https://www.marlinsbaseball.com/topic/64930-rangers-fan-falls-30-feet/ Share on other sites
July 7, 201014 yr comment_1197929 It's reported he's moving his extremities and is speaking, so hopefully all is well. That is definitely very scary. I believe it was only a year ago a Braves employee fell from the upper deck and died (don't know if I remembered that correctly). Hopefully the guy makes a full recovery. July 7, 201014 yr comment_1197930 I think a guy in Old Yankees stadium fell 2 years ago, but there was a safety net...or maybe it was last year, not sure. Not something that you ever think of happening, so it is one frightening sight. Also the Mets fan falling off 3 stories at Shea? before it closed? Or was it Citi when it opened? and died. July 7, 201014 yr comment_1197932 Man you feel for anyone that this would happen too, note to MArlins ballpark designers higher rails! Link to comment https://www.marlinsbaseball.com/topic/64930-rangers-fan-falls-30-feet/?&do=findComment&comment=1197932 Share on other sites
July 7, 201014 yr comment_1197933 Good thing this didn't happen in Sun Life Stadium. There wouldn't have been any soft bodies below to break his fall. Not something that you ever think of happening, so it is one frightening sight. Didn't that guy do it on a lark-and dived in the net behind home plate. Anyway, whenever I get a ticket at our stadium in the upper deck-I never get that first row. The rail is so low and I feel so uneasy. When I see a ball go up there and people leaning over to catch the balls that just miss the upper deck, I gulp, just as I do when I see little kids up there in that row. July 7, 201014 yr comment_1197935 man, the rescue team was out & carrying him on a stretcher in under a minute from what I can tell on the replay, speaks really well for the crew at that stadium. July 7, 201014 yr comment_1197936 This could of easily ended in tragedy so it is a miracle of some sorts that he didn't seem too bad immediately following the fall Link to comment https://www.marlinsbaseball.com/topic/64930-rangers-fan-falls-30-feet/?&do=findComment&comment=1197936 Share on other sites

I sat in the first row of the upper deck right behind home plate once and never even thought of that. Now that I do think of it, that rail is pretty low. Thank God the game got rained out because I would surely have been leaning lol Link to comment https://www.marlinsbaseball.com/topic/64930-rangers-fan-falls-30-feet/?&do=findComment&comment=1197937 Share on other sites
