Stanton in lineup vs. Red Sox

JUPITER, Fla. -- On a day their third base position became unsettled, the Marlins solidified themselves in right field.

For the first time in Grapefruit League play, Mike Stanton is in the lineup, playing right field and batting cleanup on Thursday against the Red Sox at Roger Dean Stadium.

Stanton, 21, has been out with a strained right quad, which he suffered on Feb. 27 in a scrimmage against the University of Miami.

"With Michael back, that bottom half of our lineup looks stronger with him in the middle," manager Edwin Rodriguez said.

Earlier on Thursday, Matt Dominguez was reassigned to Minor League camp. Donnie Murphy and Emilio Bonifacio will get looks at third base until the season begins.

Javier Vazquez will pitch for Florida on Thursday, while Clay Buchholz will throw for the Red Sox.

Rodriguez said this morning in his interview with Joe Rose, that we really don't know what we have because of Cogs, Stanton and Morrison missing so much time this spring. He sounds like he might be using Bonifacio more than he likes because of that to relieve the outfield, especially in CF. Has Boni played LF & RF in the past ? I can't recall myself.....

Now we've seen the already legendary power of Marlins outfielder Mike Stanton. He hit a three-run mammoth shot to leftcenter that seemed to either clear or come close to clearing a building beyond the fence against Buchholz.

Apparently they're going to talk with Stanton on BBTN, but he's still playing aid BBTN is over in like 4 minutes.

No, he left the game in the 5th.

Maybe he's doing some post-game exercises or something.

I don't think they can just leave the game after they've been subbed, can they? I mean, I assume they can but it's nothing I'd assume Stanton would do.

Being Spring Training, I'm sure they're a bit more lenient with those things.
