Will the world end in on 21/12/2012?

Mark 13:32 - "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."

Acts 1:7 - He said to them, "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority."

Basically no one knows and anyone who claims to know is foolish.

This after you reference something even more foolish?

For me, heat84 sounding like a rational human being would suffice.

What's irrational about what I said? And I guess the Mayans and Hopi Indians are irrational too?

If you think I'm irrational, what do you call the people who think the world is literally gonna end? I hope the day goes by quietly. I'm not hoping for anything to happen if that's what you think. There's gonna be major Earth changes sooner or later.

I... I don't even know.

The galactic alignment is nothing. It is something that occurs every 26000 years, because of the way the earth spins at a slight wobble. Every 72 years we change 1 degree off our current position, so the sky changes 1 degree in 72 years. So 26000 gives a full 360 degree turn and back to where the sun rises lining up with the middle of the galaxy. Not a big thing.

Another alignment is when earth the sun and the centre all meet in a line and... 'This actually happens every year during the winter solstice, on December 21st. Because of a wobble in the Earth’s orbit, the positions of the constellations slowly shift from year to year'.

Taken from the University today website. Stop fretting, go to bed.

But this one wasn't pulled out someones ass like the rest of them. And the galactic alignment is happening on that day. Who's to say how that'll effect Earth. There's also supposed to extra strong solar flares next year too.

Galactic alignment already happened in 1998. Planetary alignment has also already happened, and people thought that would be the end of the world as well.

Seriously, ignorance among physics & astronomy drives me mad. Do you realize how large space is? How incredibly large it is?

You travel a little over the distance of the Earth to the Moon in your lifetime. Now imagine how small the Earth is versus the sun. Versus a star 100x the size of the sun. Versus a star 100x the size of that star. Fun experiment. If the sun were a basketball, Venus would be roughly 8mm in diameter, and would span 18 meters from said basketball. Even to leave our solar system is trillions of miles.

Just to point out... you do realize that if such a cataclysmic event were actually realistic, and 'galactic alignment' were really that powerful, there would be absolutely NOTHING relevant about the actual point of 'alignment' because said power would have destroyed us before we even got close to aligning. Judge how big space is... we'd already basically be 'aligned' right now as we speak, given a few hundredths of a degree (and take that loosely, I didn't calculate anything). It's just like the notion that the Winter or Summer Solstice is the 'longest day of the year'. Yes, by a matter of seconds, it is. The days progressively get longer and longer every day. A day before and a day after are, for arguments sake, the same length as the solstice itself. And better yet, the actual solstice works much in the sense that the graph of any function of an ellipse would. If x=0 is the solstice, it exists only at x=0 and not x=0.1, x=-0.1, x=0.00000000000001, or x=-0.0000000000001. 'Alignment' is so highly insignificant. Despite what I said, there's nothing that actually separates x=0 to x=0.1 in terms of how long our day is, because almost the exact same effect is being produced either way. So, in conclusion, if you buy into any of that bulls***, by your theory we died a long time ago.

Who's to say how that would affect Earth? How about physicists and astronomers? But no, we don't listen to them. We listen to... wait who the hell are you listening to?

Aliens man

Oh I see. Noone's skeptical that it'll happen. Just that it'll happen in our lifetime. That's probably true. But you never know. The caldera volcano under Yellowstone is overdue for its every 600,000 year eruption.

let it wait another century then have at it.

Ummmm.....you are the one who started this wacko thread and actually claimed there is significant evidence for it happening. You don't get to just do an about-face.

I defy you to explain how some of that stuff was done by ancient humans. Or even modern humans. If you wanna delude yourself and live in a black an white world go right ahead. Even if you believe in god, you believe in aliens. Unless you think god originated on Earth somehow.

OMG I just realized...THE GUY FROM ANCIENT ALIENS = HEAT84

No. He's my brother. :dancehead

And the UFO Hunters guy is my father.
