February 29, 201214 yr New card I believe... That looks like sh*t. Super photo-shopped. Man the quality of cards has really fallen off of a cliff since I stopped collecting a couple of years ago.

I don't think it's more common with Marlins hats, but I think a lot of people are buying them because they are new. The giant hat logo is very ghetto-ish so it's going to attract the people who wear the hat ghetto-style. I just wish that logo were reduced in size by like 20% and I would be content with the uniforms despite not being a huge fan of the design.

March 2, 201214 yr The following picture was hung up in the Marlins clubhouse: Guess who caught the fish... Nope, not Ryan Webb. Here's the story: Relief pitcher Ryan Webb and his girlfriend Lauren Stafford were the most visible people in the Marlins clubhouse this morning, and not necesarily by their choice. And it’s all because Stafford outdid Webb and his friends at a fishing pond in Tarpon Springs by hooking a 10-pound largemouth bass. As Webb tells it, he had been trying to get Lauren to go fishing with him at his favorite pond, located in his best friend’s back yard. “When we were in high school, we built a dock to it and we stocked it with fish,� he said. “I’ve been trying to get Lauren to fish for us for a long time, because it’s place we’d go to have bon fires and fish and it was just lot of fun.� It measured 23 inches and “a little over� 10 pounds,� Webb said. “We’ve never seen anything that big (from that pond).� Webb’s fish tale might’ve ended there if he hadn’t shown a photograph to his agent, Joel Wolfe, at dinner one night a few days after Lauren’s big catch. He arrived at Roger Dean Stadium this morning to find a package at his locker. He opened it and saw a large blown-up print of the photograph of Lauren and Webb holding the fish Lauren caught. Closer Heath Bell saw Webb holding up the giant photo as Marlins teammates started arriving in to the clubhouse to prepare for today’s workouts. “As soon as I opened it up, Heath goes, ‘You better put that away. You don’t want anybody to see that.�’ It was too late. Reliever Edward Mujica grabbed the poster from Webb and hung it up in a prominent spot in the clubhouse for all to see. “After today, it’s going up in his bedroom on his wall,’’ joked pitcher Mike Dunn. Lauren was recently promoted at Procter & Gamble. “Maybe she’s found a back up plan in fishing!� Webb said. Finally, Lauren went fishing one day over this past off-season. “She was the only one who caught fish all day. In 2010, Sanchez was tied for sixth in the majors with Carlos Pena and Paul Konerko (33 scoops). Atop the leaderboard that season: Albert Pujols (52), Daric Barton (51) and Joey Votto (40). Last season, Sanchez totaled 30 scoops, which was tied for ninth among all MLB first baseman with James Loney. March 2, 201214 yr That's an awful stat. Scoops/Balls in Dirt would at least potentially be somewhat useful. But, you get more opportunities if your fielders make more bad throws, so that's stupid.
March 3, 201214 yr It wouldn't be so bad if they also put in how many chances he had to make a "scoop" then put an average to it. Something like successful scoops divded by scoop chances, I guess. But yeah, terrible stat as it sits.
March 4, 201214 yr Who's catching here? Good question. As far as I know the catchers who were invited to ST tryouts (besides Buck/Hayes) were Jake Jeffries, Luke Montz, Clint Sammons, and Kyle Skipworth...but obviously the jersey in the pic says a different name.
