Jeffrey Loria

Why do Marlins fans hate Jeffrey Loria?

I honestly have no idea. John Henry clearly wanted to leave, so Jeffrey took over. In his second year, he won a World Series by signing a high price free agent in Pudge Rodriguez. He pulled the right string mid-season by bringing in Jack McKeon. Some people think Loria pulled a Huizenga and had a fire sale (which he did have after 2005), but he gave the world championship team 2 more seasons to try to make the playoffs again and even gave it a shot by getting Carlos Delgado. As time went on and crowds got smaller and the team had less money, the franchise did the best they could with young players. Loria promised once he got a ballpark, he would spend money and he has. He did what 2 other owners couldn't and that is build a ballpark. I now it is controversial, but bottom line is he got it done and pretty much saved Major League Baseball in South Florida. Then he backed up his word and signed many high profile players this offseason. Also, Loria attends every game. He was often shown sitting behind home plate in his Marlins cap, no matter how long the rain delay was. I really think he wants his team to win. So why do people hate him? I don't. It is quite obvious that the Marlins are a better franchise now, then when he took over 1 stadium, 1 championship, 10 years ago.

Also, Admin wrote his piece on this subject and here it is: http://www.marlinsbaseball.com/2012/01/in-defense-of-jeffrey-loria/

people that hate Loria are mostly just miserable people in general i think.

also a lot of people who knew of him up north think he was partly to blame for the expos and didn't like that MLB aided his purchase of the marlins so they just assume he was going to take the team & sell it a few years later to make some money off it.

he definitely was.

Loria is the baseball version of the the Carolina Hurricanes Peter Karmanos. People blame Karmanos for intentionally sabotaging the Hartford Whalers to move just like Loria sabotaged the expos.

Alot of the hate from the sportswriters is because their ignorance in the Marlins history and unrelentess hate for whatever reason.

I think his inability to hang onto Pudge & DLee after 2003 was part of it. It was viewed as a mini-version of what HWH did after 1997, and the wounds were still too fresh to have healed yet.

Jeff Loria is a terrible, terrible man.

*Loria signs my Expos Jersey and gives me 40 bucks*

Mr. Loria deserves a damn statue outside this stadium. Pay up, tax payers.

See what I did there?
