March 1, 201214 yr I'm still waiting on the "New Ballpark" to have a name.... me too, why dont we have a sponsor yet?
March 1, 201214 yr Author I'm still waiting on the "New Ballpark" to have a name.... me too, why dont we have a sponsor yet? Samson said they're taking their time to find the best deal possible. They're probably really busy with a bunch of stuff related to the new stadium that they just don't have a lot of free time to give towards the naming. And anyway, will it really make much of a difference if the sponsorship comes in May versus before the season? Not really a big deal IMO...
March 2, 201214 yr I'm still waiting on the "New Ballpark" to have a name.... It's Marlins Park. So they have decided to skip out on a sponsor?

And anyway, will it really make much of a difference if the sponsorship comes in May versus before the season? Not really a big deal IMO... Well, yeah, it is a big deal. It could potentially chance marketing and promotions considerably. They have had a heck of a long time to get this done. Thinking of Turner Field, there is Coca-cola sculptures, billboards, banners, etc, all over that stadium. I wonder if they cant find a sponsor because they all want the same, which would conflict with his artwork. I have never seen a sponsor sink millions into something and not put their name, product, and colors all over it. I think the name on the building alone, wont be sufficient. Just a thought...
March 2, 201214 yr And if they refuse to allow the sponsor's artwork all over the place, then they'll just get less money. The advertising opportunity would still have lots of value, just maybe not quite as much.

I have never seen a sponsor sink millions into something and not put their name, product, and colors all over it. I think the name on the building alone, wont be sufficient. Just a thought... Poor speculation IMO. Loria and Samson aren't new to this dance. They probably didn't like like offers they were receiving, and are willing to hold out on more money/years. They are probably hoping first year attendance, the showtime series, and overall publicity this team should receive this coming season will give them more leverage to negotiate more years/money. Not to mention the marlins should be a good team. They are just holding out. Something I agree with. Wouldnt you think that a sponsor's potential to be part of a tv show, and the number of tickets that have already been sold, as well as the all-star roster would be enough to get reasonable sponsorship? We lose the tv show next year and there is no guaruntee that we sell as many tickets either. It is a gamble for them to wait. If we win the championship, obviously, the gamble will pay off. If we have a mediocre year, then they screwed themselves. I think they are probably demanding too much money for what they are willing to give. We wont get an offer like Citi gave the Mets...it just wont happen.
March 2, 201214 yr Where in the world did any speculation that the delay will be an entire year come from? The FO comments have been to the effect that they were very close to a deal and then someone else entered the picture. Obviously with more dollars on the table. Beyond there being some sort of bidding war going on, which can take time (large corporate entities tend to move slowly) there are a myriad of details to be negotiated, which can take even longer. All of that happening right as the stadium is being completed. Which explains the delay on an announcement from before the season starts to sometime perhaps a month or two later. Not next year.

March 3, 201214 yr Went for an hour and 30 min. I'm not interested in autographs or pics with the players so I walked around. Checked out my seats again, and explored. Got a hat too. Its so beautiful. Good crowd too. Its hot as balls. Saw our favorite keebler elf on 790. Its beautiful and the hr feature fits. It looks good. Loria and Samson know best. Its an awesome park. The only thing that looks off are all of the green walls in the outfield. I dunno whats up with that. Did you see the team store, was it ready and where Is it in the park?
March 3, 201214 yr Check out some of the photos I took with my phone. http://forums.marlinsbaseball.com/gallery/album/14-fan-fest-2012/ Favorite pic http://forums.marlin...11_5_165430.jpg
March 3, 201214 yr What I like most about the stadium is the seating. There is not a bad seat in the house. Also, there are no walls covering the field from the concession stands so even when you are ordering food you can still watch the game. Its all open.
