Marlins FanFest at the New Ballpark 3/3/12

Featured Replies

I went earlier. Found someone selling 2003 WS Champion hats for $5 so I snagged two of those. Also got a Gary Carter signed ball with HOF inscription and good paperwork for $30, which is a steal right now.

Tried to get some autographs, but the guys I needed weren't signing when I was there. The lines were insanely long as well.

Those really bright green walls in the outfield look like Green-Screens used in special effects - maybe people at home watching will see different ads/artwork/Marlins stuff on those walls every inning or something

The park is more gorgeous in person than in photos. We got there at 11a.m. and three garages were already full.Didn't see a an alternative, like people's lawns. The green walls have got to go. The green just clashes with everything and may not be a good background for the batter's eye. The right centerfield area is gonna produce a lot of tripples.

Here are a few of my pics. I shot around 200 pics.. I'll post more later....

Your photos look like HDR- did you photoshop these?

A lot of the depth in the images Is captured due to the Nikon speed light SB600 flash that I use on my Dslr. The images have a light form of HDR on them. Not full blown HDR. Just tweaked a tiny bit to darken some areas and light up some other areas. It was tough getting shots with the darkness of the overhang and the brightness of the sun.

Wow what a difference of having a real camera.

As for the green walls, I love them. They're nowhere near as bright In person than they appear in photos. The stadium has come a long way since I was last there for the 11/11/11 event.

I agree, the green is not bright at all like it looks in the picture, I actually like it.

Man, it was awesome. I took my camera and only ended up taking like 3 photos because I was so taken with the place.

Also, the hot dogs are f'n great.

There were kiosks everywhere selling gear. All over the place.

How much is a standard jersey + hat?

*Replica, not authentic.

I imagine the same as everywhere else. $34.99 for a hat, $100 for jersey with player name.

Just a standard straight-up jersey, no name/number.

$79 I think.
