May 10, 201214 yr Some of the management decisions this team makes are real head scratchers. We called up Rosario and Hatcher just to have them both sit around in the bullpen, not throw a single pitch and then send them back down. Now we recall Mike Dunn, who has a whopping 12.46 ERA in AAA? Is this real life? Seemed like a great idea when they were called up. Wasn't our bullpen heavily taxed? Anyway... See you in hell, Astros. We might not see Houston again for YEARS, so that coward (forgot his name already) decides to hit one of our players for pretty much no reason at all. That guy's only a small step above scum like Cole Hammels. Enjoy the American League West. What an exciting road trip that was. It's nice to win even though offense still appears to be very lackluster. Seems like all 8 wins could have easily gone the other way. Big props to the pitching.
May 10, 201214 yr We called them up and Burhle and Zambrano pitched complete games, letting the other BP guys rest. Thus they were not needed.

May 10, 201214 yr Glad to see JJ throw a decent game. Still not nearly up to what we have come to expect, but solid nonetheless. Omar has been quite the surprise this year. He's really carrying us, only one of two players hitting above .260 (LoMo).
May 10, 201214 yr Murphy isn't the greatest, but I really don't see any in-house options for an upgrade if you sent him down. Gil Velazquez. They can DFA Murphy, I don't exactly think teams will be lining up to claim him. No. That guy is a career minor leaguer for a reason. He's not going to be an upgrade. I'd think the Marlins were losing their marbles if they recalled him.

May 10, 201214 yr Are we really bitching about imperfect roster moves during an 8-1 stretch? This would not be a real fan board without someone bitching about something...
May 10, 201214 yr We called them up and Burhle and Zambrano pitched complete games, letting the other BP guys rest. Thus they were not needed. Yea, the only time they could have been used was last night to finish the game, but we got a 2-run lead in the 12th and Ozzie made the right decision in having Webb bat (only his second ever at-bat) and close out the game instead.
May 10, 201214 yr Murphy isn't the greatest, but I really don't see any in-house options for an upgrade if you sent him down. Gil Velazquez. 32-year-old with a career .626 minor-league OPS.
May 10, 201214 yr The Nats are second to last in the league in runs scored and yet they're first in the division while the Red Sox are 4th in the league in runs scored and yet they're last in their division... I think the Marlins could continue to pitch effectively and win games without scoring a lot-but I know sooner or later the offense is gonna come alive and start scoring a lot of runs. With Reyes, Hanley & Stanton there's just too much talent to stay this quiet all season.
May 10, 201214 yr By the way, the Marlins have stolen 34 bases in 40 attempts this season. That's the most SB's as well as the highest percentage rate in the whole league (85%).
May 10, 201214 yr Its obviously not realistic for teams to keep winning one run games, especially after so many blown saves, but just enjoy the ride.
May 10, 201214 yr It was great to see signs of life from JJ and him getting deep into a game. I hope he can keep it going and give a few more quality starts so he can finally get back to form. Solid team win, could've been over in 9 if Giancarlo didn't make that boneheaded play. Gotta love the fight this team has late in games though.
May 11, 201214 yr been not able get on site for weeks i see we found winnning way and what make it speical it been on road now we need do same here at home vs mettttts

With Reyes, Hanley & Stanton there's just too much talent to stay this quiet all season. There's no way in hell the Nationals' pitching staff is as good as it has been. Their starters are at 1.64, 1.72, 2.10, 2.29 and 3.49. I was talking about this with Rab the other day and he said if they were to finish the season as they are right now ERA wise, they'd be the best pitching staff since the early 1900s or something. And we're talking about guys like Ross Detwiler, Jordan Zimmerman and Edwin Jackson. We, on the other hand, could realistically have three sub 3 ERAs and two more sub 4s but we're still not scoring enough.
