June 16, 201214 yr the way pitching going and no hitting to get back top of nl east wont be easy do you oz right manger now we seen he cannot turn this round i dont see him get piss like did with ex team it like i love here by owner i wont get fire even if team 20 game under 500 what is marlins feeling of this ???
June 16, 201214 yr Buck, Bonifacio, Gaby and Lomo have combined for a .212/.297/.312 line this season. They hit .261/.327/.413 last season, collectively. So, they could pull their heads out of their asses, and that would go a long way to improving the team.

June 17, 201214 yr May 25th. Anyone know what's special about that day? ... That was the last time the Marlins scored more than 5 runs in a game (19 games since).
June 17, 201214 yr All the Marlins have to do is never have any games in the month of June. I'll see if I can arrange that.

Because his OPS dropped almost 100 points from 2011 to 2012.

OPS, isn't really a relevant factor when concerning Bonifacio, he is known for speed and obp not power, his OPS will never be higher than it was last year realistically.

June 17, 201214 yr But OPS is a measure of overall production at the plate, so it is relevant that he has been worse than last season.

Bonifacio should not be criticized right now, that's just absurd. At least wait until he comes off the DL and is more a factor in the current state of the team.
June 17, 201214 yr It always amazes me how well Rich and Tommy have brainwashed people into thinking Bonerface is anything close to above average offensively. He's already shown signs of the regression many predicted from last year, and his base running, though valuable, doesn't transform him into a spectacular offensive weapon (or compensate for a mid .600 OPS). And people are kidding themselves if they think he's going to be our savior when he returns from the DL. I get that people have a hard on for the guy, but come on.

Are you asking what made people predict Boner would regress this season? Or that he is not as good as many people seem to believe?

OPS, isn't really a relevant factor when concerning Bonifacio, he is known for speed and obp not power, his OPS will never be higher than it was last year realistically. OPS is always a relevant factor. His OBP last year was .360, this year its .351. I can live with that from bonifacio even if his OPS is down. He's been walking and hitting singles this year and not too many extra base hits, so thats why his OPS is down. He was on pace to draw more walks this year than he did last year based on his PAs as well. Bonifacio isnt the problem with this team.
June 17, 201214 yr Production is production. He has not been producing as well. Fewer extra base hits is a bad thing, no matter the player. The idea that players with lesser power should not be judged by their overall production is silly. Nobody is saying "Bonifacio is the problem on the team." Not even close. But his production is sharply down from last season, which certainly did not help the team's overall offensive slide.

More walks more SB's. Not a problem, it's absurd that his name was brought up.

The fact that he wasn't getting extra base hits was a little concerning, even though for him, a single can easily turn into a double after a couple pitches.
June 17, 201214 yr Exactly, which is why we can live with a lower OPS. More walks more SB's. Not a problem, it's absurd that his name was brought up. This doesn't work. Comparing Emilio Bonifacio's OPS to a guy who hits for power might leave you with an unfair view of their relative worth, since power is weighted more highly than OBP in OPS. I absolutely agree with this point. That is not what is happening here, though. I am comparing Emilio Bonifacio in 2011 to Emilio Bonifacio in 2012. He is the same player, but he has been less productive this season than last. So the point you are raising doesn't apply here at all. He has simply been less productive than last season, almost entirely because he has seen a dramatic drop off in extra-base hits. He's been OK this season, but he has not been as productive as last season. So when looking for reasons why the offense has disappointed on the whole, he is part of that problem. It's pretty simple. You're arguing something that is irrelevant. I don't see why this is so hard to understand.
June 17, 201214 yr Author ok we have manger doing sh*t we new ballpark that may look like sunlite soon owner trying get new season ticket buyer this whole plan back firing on owner oz look like he taking money doing sh*t
