Let's get back to the original point of the topic though people please. Das had a great idea here with this topic so let's put it to use.

Dr Beinfest would like to lobby on behalf of all cumulative sports threads being reinstated.

 

I understand the point of it, but I really think that it's actually driven down interest.

 

 

 

 

For example, our NFL thread would usually roll on every weekend and get a good page or two in. The only NFL discussion we have going right now is 1 page (just turned 2) from WEEK SIX. Nobody cares enough to continuously start more threads.

 

So here's my proposal to you to meet you half way:

 

Reinstate a cumulative DISCUSSION thread. That being said, support and encourage multiple threads being started. But the absence of a general thread for each league has driven conversation way way down. We need somewhere just to say 'Jets suuccckkk' or something along those lines.

 

Or to update on the NHL lockout that otherwise wouldn't get more than a post or two in response. You get me?

I get you. Solid points, and I do agree that traffic has died down since the change. It was to encourage better indexing by the search engine spiders but that's not working out so well thus far.

 

What does everyone else think about that?

I had an idea in mind earlier but it's not coming to me right now.

BTW I reinstated the Wrestling thread, one thread is enough for that discussion regardless of what we do elsewhere. I do not think a wrestling forum is needed. It's a small core of fans here so it can just have it's thread and go wild in it.

 

I appreciated Das' move to split it up and at first I was with it but it's not working for that discussion.

I'm going to ask the people.

 

What all would everyone like to see around here?

Merchandise discussion forums

 

Buy and selling forum (possibly to be a subset of a Merchandise forum)

 

Separate Adopt a Marlin section.

 

Separate forums for all the major sports.

 

 

Just to add a suggestion to a Merchandise forum, that may be better served as a "Only logged in users" can view it forum if possible. It should be a privledge to buy, sell, and get information or give reviews in there. You should be a contributing member of the site as well. Just a idea.

Add that to the bottom part of the forum too if anything, down by Bullpen and Outfield. It would be a cool place to add additional sticky's for the Amazon and similar threads.

Yes, and with that all being said, I would like to make the point though that these maybe shouldn't be the 'NFL 2012 thread' but particularly the 'NFL 2012 discussion thread' where all minor news, smack talk, and game day talk goes.

 

When the Dolphins sign player blank to an xx contract, that's a topic.

 

When The Superbowl comes around, that's a topic.

 

etc. etc.

 

Frown upon the old notion of telling someone 'hurr durr there's the NFL thread already'.

Thanks Beinfest for reviving those outfield posts. If everyone can do things like that, we can really get rolling here. The more traffic the better for everyone.

I am also in favor of reinstating a general discussion thread, just as long as we also have the option to have separate threads, and not have them merged. Anything to help the site!

Yeah Concessions might work. Or "Fan Shop" might work.

The trick is it needs to be more then just buy/sell/trade. A place to discuss merchandise and everything, the team store- a place to show off what we already have.
