December 8, 201213 yr Frisario's blog today: ..... The Marlins are finding even modestly-priced free agents are reluctant to sign with Miami, even for a one-year, guaranteed deal. There is an issue of trust after Mark Buehrle and Jose Reyes, who signed multi-year deals last December, were moved after one season in South Florida. At the Winter Meetings, I spoke with one veteran player who is looking for a job. “I don’t want any part of that fiasco, he said. .... That's just perfect lol Loria/Samson need to pack their (carpet)bags and get the hell out of town. Fast.

December 8, 201213 yr Like I said, allowing NTCs this year so as to make a public statement is probably best for the direction of this organization, even if you don't believe in NTCs. It's to no surprise that NOBODY wants to be here.
December 8, 201213 yr It blows my mind that the FO was so stupid to allow something like this to happen. At some point you got to calculate the losses you would get during all this. At which point do you just say we realize we made a mistake and just suck it up and pay Buehrle for 2 more seasons and have Reyes for atleast another 3 or 4 instead of what we are going through now. Evidentally it's more important to save money now than it is to keep face in front of the fans of Miami and to atleast stay a a respectable destination for free agents. I guess we will see in the long run what the results will be.
December 8, 201213 yr I'm still convinced that they knew they were going to dump Reyes and Buehrle from the beginning based on how backloaded those contracts were. They also got the perfect excuse for blowing the team up after we lost all of those games. I don't think it would have been nearly as justifiable had we narrowly missed the playoffs instead. But there were a lot of people who were skeptical last season when they looked at the details of those contracts and found how they were backloaded significantly. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt since they spent the money, but boy that sure didn't last very long.
December 9, 201213 yr Agreed completely. Loria and Samson have completely destroyed this team for years. No one will EVER want to come join the Marlins with current ownership and no homegrown talent will want to stay...
December 11, 201213 yr now they have a new excuse for not spending money " we tried to sign xxxx but unfortunately you can't force a person to sign here. for whatever reason they just weren't interested in coming here"
