Winter Meetings Rumors

Dietrich is a middle infielder who projects more as a 3rd baseman but has not transitioned to 3rd due to a certain Evan Longoria manning the position already Has good potential power very strong arm...will be in play for the fight to be our future 3rd baseman

He's 2B/3B type, I guess. It's similar to acquiring Grant Green from the A's, really.

green is farther along

It's basically the same player. Middle infield player who could transition to 3B. Has power/terrible K:BB ratios.

I can just picture beinfest sitting there suckin back on potato chips talking with his mouth full like he was on the franchise while Dan Jennings sits there mumbling "you dumb fuck".

actually I like the Trade... for what is available out there, this kid is a pretty good prospect. The Marlins should now sign Brandon Woods and, along with Zach Cox, have a battle royale in the spring for that 3rd base job

I think Green figures to hit for more average - but he's also 25 years old. Dietrich is almost 2 years younger, and he's not far behind Green in terms of being MLB-ready

I agree Erick...also very good glove and as I said before very strong arm

But below-average range, apparently.

For what it's worth, the trade is not official yet; maybe we got something else, too. Maybe not.

The guy's .OPS is near .900 against right-handed pitching down in the minors. Really doesn't seem like a bad trade. + he comes from the Rays system so there is hope...

Yeah not seeing why there's a lot of hate. What kind of return do you expect for Escobar?

I don't have a problem with the return. Looks like we made out pretty fairly for a guy we seemingly were trying to get rid of.

I was actually expecting a reliever so yay this.

Dietrich is our future 2B once we give Mark Reynolds a blank check to play 3B.
