June 3, 201313 yr Author You are a complete moron. Oh so I guess you like pop squeak players that have arms and legs that are the size of there bats? In today's game you can not be unathletic and be a complete player. Cabrera and prince fielder are both fat and are very good hitters but neither of them can run and play abysmal defense. Hitting a baseball is the easiest part of the game. The strength you have to drive the ball separates the lead off table setters from the meat of the order hitters. And defense is more important now then ever. The game has changed alot. A player who was awesome in the 1940s or 1950s would not even be able to stick with a single A team now if you brought them in a time machine, and alot of the reason would be that they just aren't big and strong enough.
June 3, 201313 yr Not everyone can be built like a horse and be immune to injuries. No one is perfect like Solano.
June 3, 201313 yr Author Not everyone can be built like a horse and be immune to injuries. No one is perfect like Solano. Who said Solano is perfect? I said he is one of our best hitters but take a look at the batting averages on this team. Anyone hitting 250 would be one of our best hitters. He is a 300 hitter last year and was on the rise when he got injured. His defense is rock solid. He doesn't have an injury history like Stanton and Lomo so I'm not quick to say his issue is conditioning plus he has a good solid build unlike Yelich or Brantly. Solano is a very good player that is cheap I never said he was perfect.

He will never be a .300 hitter again and his OPS is terrible. He's a singles slap hitter with bad defense and that's all he'll ever be. In other words, he's worthless, except for his exquisite physique. Wait, why am I responding..... again?!?! Ugh can't lay off the troll bait.

I said he has a better body then most of the players on the team unlike the SKINNY guys like Brantly and cishek and doobs I NEVER said he has a EXCUISITE body. His defense is NOT terrible. Are you only judging by errors? His range is good and his arm is strong. And he isn't slow. He is a GOOD player with a GOOD body I never said he is EXCUISITE. Stop putting words on my mouth polliwog.

He has a -1.3 UZR this year. How is he a good fielder? And maybe he's not slow, but he isn't fast, or a good base runner, or a good player.
June 3, 201313 yr If the Marlins had a middle infield half as good as Ozzie smith and Luis Castillo, they wouldn't be in last place.
June 3, 201313 yr Author I said that is the player he most closely resembles is Castillo and that hecheverria WILL BE ozzy smith. He isn't there yet. Solano's arm is probably not quite as good as Castillo and he is definitely not as fast, but they are definitely similar hitters and fielders.
June 4, 201313 yr Well some of you might not be concerned but playing in this big ballpark we need middle of the order guys to drive the ball hard and far. The skinny guys are fine for getting on base and stealing bags but "beefcake" guys need to be in the batters box casting a shadow. And the catcher should be a rock hard stud that nobody wants to crash in to at home plate and make them think twice about trying to score. Brantly is a good player and I think he could be our catcher for a long time but he could use some conditioning. The whole team just looks out of shape with the exception of the guys I mentioned already. This has to be a joke.

Solano's arm is probably not quite as good as Castillo and he is definitely not as fast, but they are definitely similar hitters and fielders. They really arent. Solano has stone hands and no range at all. He is awful. And over a full season he would undoubtedly be one of the worst hitters in baseball. His .OPS through the first 24 games of the year was .550(you say he was on the rise, its hard not to be when you are one of the worst hitters in the game up to that point). His career OPS in the minors was like .633. Donovan Solano is a terrible baseball player.
June 4, 201313 yr Author So Adeiny Hecheverria will be a Hall of Famer. Makes sense. Not at all. Ozzy smith shouldn't be a hall of famer either. I was comparing the fact that they at both defensive wizards but are bottom of the order hitters. Hecheverria looks like he might need more time in the minors and a little conditioning. But smith was a better defender from what I've seen so far. Remember I said he is more like Rey Ordoneez at this point in his career. Which ill take if he is hitting 6th 7th or 8th every night.
June 4, 201313 yr Author I thought Ozzie hit leadoff a lot. He did but his career batting average is way to low to be in the hall of fame and he didn't steal enough bases or hit enough home runs to makeup for the low batting average. Letting guys like Ozzy Smith and Tony Perwz into the hall of fame and not allowing Barry Bonds or Mark Magiire in there is a crime. It makes the hall of fame alot less credible but it's still a awesome place to visit. Anybody who hasn't been to Cooperstown needs to go for sure it's awesome.
June 4, 201313 yr McGwire admitted to steroid use, so that's understandable. Bonds has a very high possibility he used them and was a complete douche-hole, yet was a Hall of Fame player before the use of roids. So ... case can be made there, but no. Ozzie is like the ONLY guy in the HOF cause of his defense. That says a lot about his defense.
