Strength and conditioning.

Looking at the MLB as a whole doesn't it seem like the Marlins players are much less athletic and seem much smaller than most other teams? Our biggest beefcake player is Stanton an he is always injured with some different thing. Then we have guys like Brantly and hecheverria and Steve cishek and all these little skinny guys that are just injures waiting to happen. And guys like Greg dobbs look like they could be a shoe salesman. If you saw him at Publix shopping you would never guess he was a professional athlete. Doesn't it seem like maybe the strength and conditioning staff should be working with these guys to get bigger arms and more chiseled? Some of our players look like they could e playing in a softball league with a bunch of beer truck drivers and stock clerks. It's kind of concerning. The only players I see with good bodies are Ozuna, Solano, Ruggiano, and maybe Logan Morrison and Stanton. The rest look so out of shape and its a concern big time to me. Especially some pitchers like Kevin slowey and his skinny arms and chicken legs. Pitchers need big meaty thighs to drive the ball toward the plate and his look like they will snap with a wrong step.

Donovan Solano, he of the great average, sexy body, and your favorite player, is also on the DL along with Stanton and Logan Morrison. Basically, every player with a good body with the exception of Ozuna (according to you) has been on the DL this year.

Why am I responding to this?

But all the "athletic" guys are hurt. "Little skinny guy" Steve Cishek, on the other hand, has never been injured in his time here. Maybe you're making something out of nothing?

Yelich is athletic. Don't need to be a "beefcake" to be athletic.

Hell, look at Prince Fielder. He's fat as fuck! Yet, one of the most durable players right now.

Him and Miguel Cabrera

Anyone else notice how often this guy uses the term beefcake? With the exception of it being the last name of my barber... I think of the term beefcake and think male stripper. Gross.

FYI, how is Brantly skinny? The guy is frickin ripped. He happens to wear a fairly large jersey so he may seem thinner at a glance under there but the guy is a big thick dude. Look at his neck and forearms. He ain't skinny.

Well some of you might not be concerned but playing in this big ballpark we need middle of the order guys to drive the ball hard and far. The skinny guys are fine for getting on base and stealing bags but "beefcake" guys need to be in the batters box casting a shadow. And the catcher should be a rock hard stud that nobody wants to crash in to at home plate and make them think twice about trying to score. Brantly is a good player and I think he could be our catcher for a long time but he could use some conditioning. The whole team just looks out of shape with the exception of the guys I mentioned already.

Omg so what do you want me to say instead of beefcake? What word do YOU like?

Stanton is a physical specimen despite his injury problems. That dude is ripped.

I know. That is why he was on my original list of beefcakes on the first post. But MOST of the players on this team are built like shoe salesman.

being ripped like stanton may not actually bode well for staying healthy because if i remember correctly you can add more muscle but the ligaments/tendons don't "bulk" up accordingly and thus with more muscle = more strain. personally, I'd just like to see them get a new strength and conditioning staff in there because it seems like the fish always seem to have more injuries than your average team. bye bye Sean Cunningham.

You mean a beefcake, right?

Not everyone can go out there and look like mr universe and hit the ball a country mile but isn't it weird that we always have so many injuries and especially supposevly minor injuries that turn into 60 day DL trips? That and the fact that alot of our players (aside from the beefcake list) look like they could be working at Dairy Queen. Are you telling me that Greg dobbs looks like a professional athlete???? Maybe a golfer or a rugby player lol.

Ichiro is skinny yet a great player. What about Maddux? Guy looked like some one worked at a desk all day. Ryan Braun is not exactly huge but is a great player.

Some guys are just more injury prone.
