August 9, 201312 yr Does anyone else remember when "..." told us that Ruggiano would be a 1.000 OPS player this season? I do. That was such an odd thing to say. He basically saw him as a top 5 hitter.
August 9, 201312 yr Everyone should've seen a regression coming. I personally never expected the regression to be so drastic. I thought he'd hit .240-.250 with somewhere around 20 hrs.

Which he was on pace to do until recently. I don't really care much about batting average, but he was more on pace for a .220ish BA. And, of course, the current slump shouldn't be dismissed anyway. For the record, I did think that he would regress this season but I didn't think it he would be even close to being this bad.
August 9, 201312 yr The team seems to be following a pattern. Suck for two months, be decent for two months, suck again
August 9, 201312 yr To be fair, July was up and down, but the Marlins finished just under .500 for the month. I wouldn't be shocked if the same holds true for August. Marlins aren't gonna do much better unless the offense picks up. June was their best month, and had a lot to do with the fact that it was the best month offensively. More disappointing than the offense lately is the bullpen though. It has completely collapsed in multiple games. Marlins refused to trade bbullpen arms because they were doing a solid job and they wanted the starters to feel comfortable leaving with a lead. Well that plan backfired. Qualls has been absolutely awful since realizing he still has a roster spot.
August 9, 201312 yr Yeah but the nature of bullpens means they, Qualls included, could be amazing the rest of the season. Actually considering how good they've been until now, I wouldn't be shocked at all if the pen finishes the year strong.
August 9, 201312 yr Guys, if we sweep the Braves we'll have 46 games left. If we go 60-0 in that stretch we can grab a wild card spot. Keep believing!!!

August 9, 201312 yr I can feel it. All the need it a picture of Loria with peel away clothes like from Major league. We just need a few color misfits and a game winning movie montage.

But as I said in the other thread, to be fair, his playing time has not been consistent all season. He started the year in CF, then Coghs got hot and took his ab's. Then when Ruggiano was hitting well, for some reason JP got the ab's. Then when Red realized Ruggiano was the more valuable hitter, he couldn't hit. Then up came Yelich and Marisnick. I don't think Ruggs got a fair shake to produce, but it's still no excuse. Bottom line is he isn't hitting...
