December 10, 201311 yr Boy i just don't even want him on the team anymore. I would trade him and find another righty who actually plays first. He gives me bad memories of the last two years.
December 10, 201311 yr Boy i just don't even want him on the team anymore. I would trade him and find another righty who actually plays first. He gives me bad memories of the last two years. Why? Because he actually provided a positive contribution (WAR) to the team unlike a fair amount of the other players?
December 10, 201311 yr I like Ruggiano and I'm glad he's sticking around. 3.7 WAR in 800 ABs. Not bad.
December 10, 201311 yr I like Ruggiano and I'm glad he's sticking around. 3.7 WAR in 800 ABsdon't know where you're getting that number at all. Also, he is alright, had a good year the first year with us but its pretty clear that it was a fluke considering is ops that year was about 200 points higher than his career ops and he's on the wrong side of 30 now. he is pretty much a replacement player as evidence by his .1 war last year and i think getting someone who actually plays first would be more beneficial to the team. Please don't try to argue him as a good player. That one year was the only year of his career with over a .300 OBP and a .400 slugging.
December 10, 201311 yr Author I heard that the Orioles are interest in both Morrison and Ruggiano. Orioles are interested in LoMo and one of our outfielders. Speculation is that it's Ruggiano.

But what other option is there to pair with Jones? It's either Ruggiano or Lucas. I'd rather have Ruggiano as he's more proven and has some power (although not in marlins park). Defensively it's probably a wash once Ruggiano learns the position
December 10, 201311 yr Author I can see Ruggiano being capable at 1B. Gold glove? No but I don't think he'll embarrass himself.
December 10, 201311 yr I can see Ruggiano being capable at 1B. Gold glove? No but I don't think he'll embarrass himself. Can't be any worse than Garret Joens
December 10, 201311 yr Not high. More valuable staying than he would be going. What if they package him with Morrison. I hear the Orioles like them both.
December 10, 201311 yr Trading Ruggiano right now would be dumb. He's got a lot of value in his current role.
December 10, 201311 yr It depends on what they get for him. By himself, I don't think he's worth much. Add him to another player (like Morrison) and you might get a nice haul from a desperate team.
December 10, 201311 yr Author Ruggiano is exactly the kind of player we covet, there's no reason to deal him.
December 10, 201311 yr I kind of like Ruggiano a little bit, but he runs very hot and cold. I can't see to get his 4 for 58 July out of my mind, but he did finish well. I'm not saying that should trade him....just that they should listen. I would be listening about almost everyone on the roster right now except Stanton, Yelich, Saltalamacchia, Fernandez and Cishek.
December 10, 201311 yr Feel like he could succeed at 1st since he's pretty athletic and agile. It's not exactly the hardest position to play and he'll only really have to get used to playing on the IF dirt. A Platoon role back and forth between OF spots and 1B could fit him nicely.
December 10, 201311 yr I can see Ruggiano being capable at 1B. Gold glove? No but I don't think he'll embarrass himself. I can see this too
December 10, 201311 yr barring that horrible slump last year he has been solid. Could be a good right handed option and has plenty of power.
