May 23, 201412 yr My biggest worry about Moran is that the power will never come around. He'll always be a guy who can hit the ball ok and get on base, but going 1-4 with a single every game doesn't help anybody. That's pretty much what he's done during his tenure in Jupiter. I'll note his current struggles to adjusting to a new league, but if he continues to hit this poorly going into August there's legitimate reason to be concerned. Not to mention he's a very average third baseman defensively. His strength is supposed to be plate discipline, and even that seems to be a bit suspect in his 100+ AB's in Jupiter. Moran has to step it up. I think it's amazing that we've been able to hit so successfully in the first round in recent drafts, from Yelich in 2010 to Fernandez in 2011 to Heaney in 2012. It is important for Moran to be successful, but it simply isn't the end of the world if he isn't the perennial all star 3rd baseman we were all hoping for when he was drafted. Would've been great to have the second overall pick in that draft though. Kris Bryant will be a great hitter in the majors really soon.
May 24, 201412 yr Apparently Moran heard my criticism. He's having the best game of his young career today. 3-5 so far with a home run and 2 RBI's. First home run in Jupiter.

May 25, 201412 yr Sitting at the Suns game tonight, Realmuto already with a double and gunned out a runner at 2nd. Crazy how much the talent here has dropped in a year though.
May 26, 201412 yr Love Realmuto. He went from a drafted SS converted to catcher to an actually above average defensive catcher. Not the mention he showed promise early at the plate, tailed off for two years, and suddenly had a resurgence again this year. I've been high on Realmuto since we paid above slot to draft him. I'm still unsure if he could ever be a major league starter since I'm still not sure if he could hit at the major league level, but it's nice to have some catching prospects finally to be excited about.
May 26, 201412 yr I wonder what they're going to do about Realmuto. I don't think the FO really expected Realmuto to develop into a potential starter. He's still got a bit to go, but it should be interesting to see what they do if he mashes both AA and AAA this year and next.

Well, Salty, hopefully, will play out his contract, but Mathis I basically only signed through next season. This sets up a potential Platoon between Realmuto and Salty with Realmuto taking on full duties in 2017. Barnes should also be ready around that time, so there are other options if JT isn't starting caliber
