Fish send out our new Ace.

HOTlanta's

Harang, 10-8, 3.60 ERA

I may or may not watch this one, as my personal and love life is a mess and it's my fault to pick up the pieces and not be the little bitch.

We are here for you.

Thank God new Ace is pitching tonight :) (in before 7 runs allowed in 2 innings).

Quick note for guys traded for Cosart. Moran has a .783 OPS in AA (Hit tool still great, numbers better across the board but power still not totally there. But we very well could regret letting him go because he can still hit really really well).

Marisnick doing better with Astros than Marlins but still having trouble hitting (.636 OPS in 92 AB's) but his defense makes him a 1.1 WAR player so far. That defense is super valuable.

We all know how Cosart is doing, but here's an update on the other guys in the trade for the Marlins.

Austin Wates is hitting like trash in the hitter friendly PCL after doing well with the 'Stros there to start the year. .584 OPS in 101 AB's with the Marlins.

Kike Hernandez was doing really well with the Astros in both the minors and majors with the Astros, but he's since regressed close to where he'll be for his career. From .887 OPS with the Astros to a .746 OPS in New Orleans, although take it with a grain of salt since it has been a small sample size (63 AB's).

So overall the trade comes down to Cosart. If he continues to pitch like he has so far, which although doesn't seem likely to happen since he doesn't miss bats could still technically happen, then it really doesn't matter how Moran and Marisnick's career turn out.

As of right now we got what we wanted out of that trade. Cosart has helped soften the blow from losing Fernandez for the year and Alvarez for a significant amount of time, and we have him for a long time for cheap. But Kike likely is a utility hitter in the long run, and Wates may likely never see the majors. While both Moran and Marisnick are highly projectable (Moran being a poor defensive 3B with a great hit tool, meh on base ability and little power, and Marisnick being a great defensive and baserunning asset with little hitting ability), it appears at this point we may have sold a bit low on Moran and bought high on the likes of Hernandez and Wates.

I don't know if Wates was bought high or otherwise, I think he was just a throw in to replace Marisnick at AAA.
