dim
Seriously. That whole situation was handled incredibly bad by Fiers and the umpiring crew. According to them it's perfectly ok to throw at the face and then incredibly up and in on back to back hitters. This whole situation makes me nearly as angry as 7.
Wild Card
The only people who handled the situation were the Marlins. They have every right to go nuts.
Mets_bs
Unfortunate and I'm not sure why Fiers was acting like a dick after hitting Reed Johnson. But by the letter of the law, those are both strikes. More than anything, I really hope Stanton is ok. Baseball is far less exciting without him playing. It was an out under the baseball rulebook (even if Johnson's swinging motion was likely in self defense). I'm just upset with Fier's response and the umpires not controlling the situation by ejecting Fiers immediately after the Johnson play or even sending a warning, regardless of if it was intentional or not. Then ejecting McGehee and Redmond for having every right to argue the BS that was going on is unbelievable. That whole situation after the Stanton crap could've been avoided and they completely botched it.

That whole situation after the Stanton crap could've been avoided and they completely botched it. It's not a matter of defense or not... the supposed "swing" happened after the ball hit. YOU WONT RETAIN THE ABILITY TO CHECK YOUR SWING ONCE YOU'VE BEEN HIT. I don't know how anyone can fucking say it's a swing. Ya'll simply don't get the human body if you're going to say that. The only situation where this is called a strike is if it's over the plate. That's it. Neither of them were.
Mets_bs
The strike out is such a miniscule piece of the equation. One of the best players in baseball was carted off the field after taking a pitch to the face and you're worried about the strike call? Michael
The strike out is such a miniscule piece off the equation. One of the best players in baseball was carted off the field after taking a pitch to the face and you're worried about the strike call? More pissed about the fact that they called it a swing, and yes, by the rule, it is. But the Brewers would have not cared whatsoever if they didn't call it a swing. Dude just got hit in the face and literally never got up. Should have just let a pinch-runner take the base. Then they say Johnson swung at the next pitch that hit him in the hand, up near his face? You have to understand just how pissed we are about the whole situation. It really sucks that we lost our best player, maybe for the rest of the year depending on the results of the x-ray and CT scan. We were upset on that, and then livid with the subsequent events. Good lord, no. This needs to stop. YES WE ACKNOWLEDGE THAT IF YOU'RE HIT BY A PITCH AND YOU SWING IT IS A STRIKE. How the fuck can you charge a player with swinging after they've been hit? Once the ball hits the player, the at bat is done. If he's swinging as it's hitting him, then it's a strike. You have to ask yourself the question... would it be called a strike if the ball didn't hit them? Would they have called the swing? The answer is no. It's physics, people. All of Giancarlo's angular momentum was preserved. There's no way he could've applied any counteractive torque to check his swing, which he was clearly in the process of beginning. The same goes to Johnson.

Erick
@Admin, I've been suspended from here for far less than whatthis miserable skidmark is saying. Fans like it when their team wins. They prefer the team winning than the team losing. They prefer watching their team not get screwed on a bullshit call. I'm pretty sure we have the right to complain about a shitty call if we want. If Matt Harvey were to blow out his arm for a second time throwing what should've been a strike 3/called a ball to win the World Series, you would probably be sad that Harvey got hurt again, yet be mad that they missed the call. Piazza31
Fuck all of Milwaukee. Dumb ass fans clapping when Stanton's carted off. I know their hearts were in the right place, but he couldn't even sit up. What the fuck are are you clapping for. You clap for a good moment- all of that was bad. Really bad. Fiers is a fucking puss face bitch. Billy Martin would have ordered a wild pitch into the dugout.

dim
Man ya'll are acting like real assholes in this thread. Mets_bs has as much right to talk in this thread as everyone else. It's pretty obvious he didn't mean any harm with his comments (well this skidmark comment was pretty rough), and while I understand the anger don't be stupid and react angrily to every non Marlins fan you see responding. Lets try and keep things cordial even though I understand that isn't likely to happen. I just posted this because I was upset seeing Fiers act all defensive and angry in this situation instead of realizing the emotions the back to back hit by pitches would cause and be all "you're right, I fucked up. Now lets calm down". He saw some Marlins players coming up to the mound and he his first instead was to start jawing. I understand he was thinking that he would protect his ground but it angers me that it looked like he was talking big game after all this happened.
