September 12, 201411 yr Now that we've had time to sit and calm down, I can't help but think of Tony Conigliaro ... Hopefully this is not even 1/5 as serious as that injury.
September 12, 201411 yr Isn't that good etiquette? "Oh look, he's not dead, we should clap." You'll have to pardon, I'm from Pennsylvania where sports fans boo penalties when players karate kick opponents in the face or cheer lifeless players incapacitated with serious neck injuries. Like I said, their hearts in the right place.... but that wasn't the right response. Silence in this case would have been golden in such a heavy situation. And Pollyvonwog, back off Mets_BS. You may not like his opinions and I haven't read them all but your coming off as really sour.

September 12, 201411 yr I don't think Fiers hit either one intentionally but he was dead wrong when he egged the Marlin dugout on Curious, did we protest?
September 12, 201411 yr Now that we've had time to sit and calm down, I can't help but think of Tony Conigliaro ... Hopefully this is not even 1/5 as serious as that injury. Ugh, I physically shivered when I read this.
September 12, 201411 yr Ugh, I physically shivered when I read this. I became fearful of the thought, too.
September 12, 201411 yr Ugh ... clarkspencer @clarkspencer #marlins Stanton suffered a facial laceration requiring stitches, multiple facial fractures and dental damage.
September 12, 201411 yr Fiers was on the verge of tears I would be too if I had 40 guys with access to baseball bats yelling at me.
September 12, 201411 yr Lazy tweet. I bet he used Swype. He also kicked the phone and slowly jogged after it
September 12, 201411 yr Facial laceration and dental damage are both shitty, but not serious in the long term. The facial fractures are the concerning part here in regards to Giancarlo's long term health.
September 12, 201411 yr I would be too if I had 40 guys with access to baseball bats yelling at me. Especially with their Winn Dixie cards showing
September 12, 201411 yr Just remembered, anyone notice when Stanton was being tended to, Ed Lucas was seemingly looking at something on a cell phone with Solano next to him looking at it too. Then the two went towards the medical crew as if to show them something. Any clue what that was? Its possibel the Marlins Medical team sent messaged to inform the on site physicians what Stanton is allergic to, atleast that my guess. A guy that big probably has a medication allergy. I have a few and have to be careful when I go to the hospital to make sure I'm not shot up with potentially deadly shit.
September 12, 201411 yr At this point, of course we all want Giancarlo back on the team, but let's first hope that he's healthy and has no long term damage in his life, let alone his baseball career.
September 12, 201411 yr Lazy tweet. I bet he used Swype. I bet his handler used Swype while Hanley was polishing his Chains and Rings.
September 12, 201411 yr Amazing how the one year he's healthy the entire season, no looming issues, just the usual slump every so often ... and this happens.
September 12, 201411 yr Amazing how the one year he's healthy the entire season, no looming issues, just the usual slump every so often ... and this SHIT happens. FTFY
September 12, 201411 yr I still can't believe how the umps handled the whole thing. Not one single atom of common sense between them. The Marlins were the victim yet everything that was bad happened to them with McGehee, Redmond, Disco & Leary all getting tossed. Kudos to Gomez for not over-reacting. There's the letter of the law, and then there's the spirit of the game. The was an incident in English soccer a few years back. A goalkeeper got injured in an attack but the ball stayed in play. The ball was crossed into the penalty area, and the opposition striker, Paolo Di Canio, virtually had an open goal to score in, with the goalie lying flat on his back. Instead of scoring, Di Canio caught the ball and asked the referee to allow the goalkeeper to receive treatment. The letter of the law would have meant a free kick to the defence, and Di Canio being tossed from the game for handling the ball. Instead, the goalkeeper received treatment, the game was re-started with a goal kick, and Di Canio was applauded for his sportsmanship. If the umps at last nights game had been in charge, he would have been tossed and received an automatic three-game suspension. I mean really? How are you supposed to check your swing if a baseball is hurtling towards your face ay 90mph? Jesus. They should have just awarded the Marlins first base with a pinch runner, then none of the follow up shit would have happened. And no way did Johnson swing. Fucking muppets. Hell, at least I share something in common with Stanton now - both been hit in the face whilst playing baseball, although mine was a line drive in fielding practice. Facial stitches are a bitch, especially ones inside your mouth. Get well soon MVP.
September 12, 201411 yr #Giancarlo in good spirits, saying he was uplifted by his mates. Dental work on 3 teeth in Miami. Fractures will heal, no surgery expected - Minervini
