marlin2266
Boog was commenting on Fudge this morning. He said Fudge was way over-rated as a leader and clubhouse presence. Yes, we'll miss his production in the clutch, but as far as behind the scenes, it sounds like he was a non-factor. Interesting.
Ramp
wow. i dont doubt it.

CapeFish
Boog did not get the Mets job, it was given to the Islanders broadcaster. MSG/Fox Sports New York decided to keep it in house.
jonnylons
Scambi is more of an insider than Berardino, in my opinion. I think this is pretty good evaluation and even more of a comfort. The leader of this team? Conine. And let us not forget, sure, Pudge tagged out Snow and held on to the ball - but Redmond and Castro could have done the same. The only way that happens? Conine is in position and makes the throw, he lead this team down the stretch. A prototypical Marlin...

TSwift25
This is Mike Lowell's team, even if Pudge came back this is Mike Lowell's team. We made him our #1 priority this offseason, and quite frankly I'm glad it's his team now, he's a true class act. :thumbup
MiRi
Mike Lowell does indeed deserve to be team leader.

DVH is better at calling the game, he just fits the baseball radio guy format, Boog sounds like a mouse when he talks sometimes and breathes on the microphone too much. Boog has not yet been signed for 2004. DVH is going to be here, along with Len and Tommy, but Boog is still not signed. The A's job is still open, but everything else is full. CapeFish
keep that one-man Dave Van Horn fan club going Cape! Hey, I listen to almost 75 radio games a year in one form or another so I am used to him already. I'd love to see what you'll do if he was moved to T.V. :lol lol :devil

And don't forget Mark Redman. Why do you even try? Let me ask you something, where was Lowell when the pennant race came down to the wire? That is right, on the bench. How many big time plays did Conine make? I can tell you this, he was a pivotal reason why the Marlins made it to the playoffs. And remember, Lowell didnt really even play in the beginning of the playoffs. That is not to say Lowell isnt IMPORTANT, no, he is the best 3B in baseball - and I have been arguing that for a long time now, up against those Rolen lovers (who have seem to go bye bye...). That said, Lowell is not the leader of this team - Conine is. He is a vet that leads by example, much like Dutch was back in '97. There are important players on this team - like Pierre whose hard work is infectious. Lowell and his overcoming of cancer too and the fact he is a class act. But Conine is Mr. Marlin - it is like the return of an old gunslinger. He proved his worth and led this team - quietly - into a 2nd championship. And Redman? Great guy, hardnose pitcher, love him. But I would be hesitant to call him the leader of this team. Especially when he struggled mightily in the playoffs.

CapeFish
With my move to Fort Myers I become so knowledgable about Sports media after my efforts to get the Marlins back on TV and radio here that it is now free flowing.
