5/6, Marlins @ Nationals, 1:05

Woohoo big cat Mat got his first W last night, and it was well deserved.

Todays matchup features Tom "Big Salad aka TK Fresh" Koehler vs Max "Husky Eyes aka WAHHH The NL needs a DH" Scherzer.

Koehlers last start was subpar, but I can see him going a solid 6 today. Scherzer on the other hand is going to be tough, currently sporting a 1.26 ERA,  Marlins are going to have to jump on him quickly to throw him off his groove.

no lineup out as of yet, but I'd assume Mathis will take the start after the night game. Big series to win, and would bring good vibes as the fish are leaving on a jet plane to visit the west coast to face SF and LAD.

Little worried about Tom at this point (none of his stats look pretty especially the periphs), and he's always been much worse on the road, but here's hopin he turns it around.

Wanna bet $100 to Admin that Mathis won't start this one?

The Marlins have gone 10-3 since April 22 with starters recording a 2.16 ERA over the 13-game stretch. Miami was 3-11 to begin the season with starters posting a 5.30 ERA through April 21.

everybody is due for an off day. scherzer will get his today. ozuna homers. marlins win today. 1. maybe my wife will bring luck by staying at one of the suites there today. 2. I wont be there. 3. we have a nice string of series wins.

realmuto is starting? interesting. I figure he will go all out today and get the day off tomorrow.

Glad to see Morse sitting again and Bour starting. Unfortunately that's what needs to happen until he clears his head. Ain't nobody breakin' out of a slump by facing Scherzer anyway. It's the right call.

Yelich should be back Friday, he's scheduled to play in the minors yet again today and then rest and meet us in SF and play Friday. If Koehler struggles today however, and Alvarez comes back in a week or so in his rehab and pitching program; Should Phelps be moved back to the pen? Or should Koehler? I guess his next two starts are big if he wants to continue in the rotation because Phelps has given us 3 solid starts.

Koehler for bullpen all the way. decreases the chance for him facing the lineup for a second, third time. youre looking at Fernandez, alvarez, cosart, haren, latos. phelps and Koehler actually gives us an upgrade in the bullpen. just need to get hand out of there.

Koehler is a reliable starter.  He's not going to the bullpen.

Once Jose gets back who do you suggest gets the kick? Phelps will be one but do you suggest Latos or Haren go out before Koehler? That ain't happening

I'm with you, and that's not a bad thing. Koehler could be a really awesome reliever. He always starts off really strong when first seeing hitters but falters later on. Now slot him in at the sixth or seventh inning and you have a pretty good bullpen arm right there
