Im calling BS on your prediction edcanes i do not think he will sign with the cubs and anyone can toss around predictions . he will end up with the orioles and the cubs will not dish out that money to sign him

You could be right on the team, as I stated later in post.......

"The deal will be completed this weekend at the winter meetings, BUT the O's /Dodgers could make a last run. I do think he'll get that contract he wants."

as far as the money will see. I know he's become the #1 target of both the Cubs and O's. He'll get that money, if I'm wrong, I'll say I'm wrong....I'm not going to run and hide.

What are the Cubs going to do with Miller? He's due $3 mil in '04. I doubt they're going to allocate $13 mil for two catchers.

This all started because supposedly a Fox 10 report out of Phoenix. Fox 10 denies the report. Then is turned into a radio station in Arizona, and WSCR 670 AM in Chicago then supposedly picked up the story. Well, 670 WSCR isn't exactly reliable. Not only do they not carry the story, but as of Monday they still have the Cubs going after our second baseman, Juan Castillo.

Folks, the Cubs themselves denied this rumor today.

Pudge is NOT signing with the cubs anytime soon, the cubs said themselves that Pudge "is out of their buget limits."

Pudge will end up in Baltimore, unless they somehow get Vlad.

Pudge will end up in Baltimore, unless they somehow get Vlad.

They will never pry Vlad away from his number one choice, the Marlins.

:thumbup Notice I said unless they SOMEHOW get Vlad, emphasis on somehow, because it's very unlikely Vlad won't end up in South Florida next season :thumbup

and the Cubs are either getting Pudge or Jason Kendall A rumor in PRINT! WOW! actually, it's not even in print by a single news agency in the country. there isn't even a mention of it in any printed form of news.

the "article" was written by the webmaster of a cubs message board, and it was posted on his site.

as far as i'm concerned, the rumor doesn't even have legs yet. it hasn't been printed on any news source.

Here's the link for the Pudge thing

Why do the Cubs need a lead-off hitter? And since when was Kendall a lead-off type hitter?

Kendall's led off a lot in Pittsburgh.

if the Cubs want Kendall, they better hope Pitt pays for some

Jason Kendall C PIT Signed Nov 2000 - 6 years/$60M

2002: $6.0M (+$4.0M signing bonus, half deferred without interest)

2003: $8.0M

2004: $8.0M

2005: $10.0M

2006: $11.0M

2007: $13.0M

-$0.5M each year deferred with interest -Includes complete no-trade clause

-Possible $475K each year in award bonuses (added to next year's salary)

yea, youre right. ed claims his sources are actual ppl in the industry or something, when he just gets it from diff places on the net. everything he posted since i been here never comes true... its all bs.. nice job finding this stuff.

actually, it's not even in print by a single news agency in the country.? there isn't even a mention of it in any printed form of news.

here's what the article says about the rumor:

A broadcast report by WSCR Radio on Tuesday night said an Arizona radio station reported that Rodriguez and the Cubs were close on the deal, but the Cubs were downplaying the report.

First of all, there was no "Arizona radio station" involved in this. It is supposedly FOX 10, a TV station in Phoenix, that WSCR and the webmaster claim ran the report.

And where did WSCR radio hear of this Arizona station's report, pray tell? They were notified of it by the webmaster of the Cubs message board (www.cubstalk.com). Look at his article and thread on the website and see for yourself.

If FOX 10 in AZ denies it, I think it's pretty safe to say the webmaster got hoaxed.

Cubs GM showing why he is an idiot once again...

Trading for Derreck when he already had Simon.

Signing a 32 year old Catcher who has a history of injuries to a multi year deal.Pudge didn't exactly light it up during the regular season.

Um...Randal Simon is not an answer. Lee is. Pudge was a huge lift for us last year, but still- this team was special. People will see that and by fracturing it you wont get the same effect. Will Pudge put the Cubs over the top? Possibly.

I think this is ridiculous that Fudge is going to get his money. I cant believe someone would pay him 10M for 4 years. Goes to show you baseball is not filled with smart business men - dont know why, these guys didnt get rich for nothing.

One thing is for sure - since I am moving to Chicago, it is like I get to see the Marlins again with all the former Marlins on that team. Alfonseca, Clement, Lee, Pudge? Geez...

If this is just an empty rumor...good. Because in a perfect world, Pudge would have to eat a $6M contract with the Brewers...

And Boras would be fired...

i will print u guys a rumer

marlins interested in renteria

there u go, a printed rumer.

Again, this guy's spelling is atrocious. I still say he isn't a Yalie, and if he is, the quality of Yale has gone to hell in a handbasket. As stated before, he should have gone to Williams. :chair
