May 10, 201610 yr A win that should not have been a near catastrophe. I like Mattingly but his bullpen management is shit. Waste a closer for over 30 pitches in a nonsave and then go to Morris??? When is Loria/ FO gonna wake up and clean house on the pieces of shit like Morris and Breslow in the pen? DD and Jose Day prevailed!!!
May 10, 201610 yr Author bullpen needs a break. doubleheader Saturday. I know Mattingly is limited because of all the turds in the pen but he should not have wasted Ramos there
May 10, 201610 yr I know Mattingly is limited because of all the turds in the pen but he should not have wasted Ramos there well you know he's not coming in tomorrow. and I prefer no Wednesday as he can have 3 days off. you need to be ready for Washington.
May 10, 201610 yr happy they won, as I was very upset yesterday. still not satisfied. didn't like the 9th inning.
May 10, 201610 yr happy they won, as I was very upset yesterday. still not satisfied. didn't like the 9th inning. A win looks the same in the standings :high5
May 10, 201610 yr A win looks the same in the standings :high5 yeah but....I see a trend. 4-0 lead Friday, 3-0 Saturday and sunday, 4-0 today. 2-2 record. need a real shutdown game.
May 10, 201610 yr Author the 4 game series with dc would be more interesting if we hadnt dropped sat and sun
May 10, 201610 yr Author lettuce not forget jose was pretty awesome. Threw a lot of great curves today save it for salad day
May 10, 201610 yr I'd like to request two straight blowout victories for us the next two games. My heart can't deal with these heart pounding games even when they're wins.
May 10, 201610 yr You guys need to relax about the standings. The season is 31 games in. Nobody cares about the standings at this point.
May 10, 201610 yr You guys need to relax about the standings. The season is 31 games in. Nobody cares about the standings at this point. sorry. I look at them every day.
May 10, 201610 yr sorry. I look at them every day. That's fine and everything, but they're rather irrelevant at this point.
May 10, 201610 yr That's fine and everything, but they're rather irrelevant at this point. when do you pay attention to them?
May 10, 201610 yr sorry. I look at them every day. Damn right! Sent from my SM-G900T using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
May 10, 201610 yr Damn right! Sent from my SM-G900T using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app yup. you miss a game of the playoffs, you'll be running through the schedule trying to figure those you should have won.
May 10, 201610 yr when do you pay attention to them? I pay attention now that we remain within striking distance. Pay attention to all the other teams, I basically start that after the All-Star Break pretty much. As long as we stay above .500, the key is to do that and get better at the trade deadline. As it currently stands, I just can't fully keep up with the standings because, honestly, our roster isn't all that comparable to the Nats and Mets. Eventually, I'm guessing we'll pass the Phillies for good. All in all, we're 17-14 with 0 run differential. There's been some good; there's been some bad. There are some areas we can improve. The season is still too young. We haven't learned enough about our team to be checking up on other teams. Imo.
May 10, 201610 yr DD is really settling in nicely. Dude can hit to be perfectly honest and real with you, I don't think about Gordon anymore. I knew they were going to be fine when he got suspended.
May 10, 201610 yr yup. you miss a game of the playoffs, you'll be running through the schedule trying to figure those you should have won. Tends to even out over 162. + there's no point in dwelling over missed opportunities. Not as if you can go back in time to a game that sucked and make it up to convert it into a win.

I do it now because I can dream. you have to say cubs fans are dreaming of what can be. when we are on top of the division or a wild card leader after game 1, game 20, game 140 and so on, it means a lot to me. I do understand you. 131 to go. but I get jacked when we are leading something.

I do understand you. 131 to go. but I get jacked when we are leading something. I get that too as a fan. But that's just tough in baseball because there are a lot of high's and low's even for good teams. Eventually, the Cubs will struggle a bit too even though they're really, really good. A couple days ago, we were 16-12, leading the second wild card, and everything was great. Then we make a couple of dumb mistakes and we're 16-14 and things are not so great. Those two losses suck, but it shouldn't change what we think of the team in my opinion. Instead of looking at standings, I look at it more like... -Our lineup looks good. -Jose is still awesome to me. -Conley has improved. -The backend of our pen has been good for the most part. So, basically, where do we need to improve? I hope we stay within striking distance, and, more importantly, stay healthy. We can't afford Stanton or Yelich getting injured for example. Other than that, we need to improve the backend of our rotation. We need to cut Breslow imo. All in all, I see a team that can compete for a playoff spot if some things go right. Not much has changed from Opening Day, really. We just need to keep battling and stay within striking distance. Hopefully the front office spends some money and we make some smart moves at the trade deadline. Those upgrades will probably end up being the difference between playoffs or no playoffs.
