You guys need to relax about the standings. The season is 31 games in. Nobody cares about the standings at this point.

I need something to kill the time until NFL  :421_football:

Cubs do, they want their rings now

yes, dad.

Mets and Nats combined win differential: +95

Marlins +0

we're not winning the division.

But if Loria adds at the deadline a Wild Card spot is totally reasonable.

With our offense, I like Jose, Phelps, Bear and Ramos in a wild card playoff game.

In my opinion every game matters regardless of when it is. It may not be that important whether you are leading the division or wild card in May but every game will matter in the end.

For all the baserunners we get, we score way too few runs.

Morris and Breslow need to go. I absolutely hate to see either one of them being brought in with men on base. I can strangle Ramos with his walks, but can't dismiss that overall he's done a good job.

DD and Yelich are as interesting AB's to watch as Stanton. Prado is zoned in.

I never despaired of Hech when he was hitting 200. For the most part he's been making solid contact and his BA was bound to reflect that eventually.

Once Jose regains command of his offspeed pitches, he's going to once again become unhittable.

I like being able to look at the standings without flinching. With the inconsistency in our starting pitching I'll take 17-14.  Chen needs to start stepping up.

He has evolved quite a bit.  He goes up to the plate with a plan, unlike another powerful lefty we have.

bour, though the IQ of a fortune cookie, is very serviceable when he is clicking.

I didn't say he can't hit.  He just has no idea how to do it based on any particular situation.  He just goes up to the plate and starts flailing the bat around until he hits something.

As far as the flailing It does sometimes look the way. Got to give the big guy credit for going opposite field more frequently.

I agree with pretty much everything you said, but Chen has done his job in giving us a quality start in every outing with the exception of Opening Day. The bullpen just hasn't held some of them.

to be perfectly honest and real with you, I don't think about Gordon anymore. I knew they were going to be fine when he got suspended.

They won't be *fine*.   Even if they can match Dee's VORP, truth is they are stuck with that contract for another 4 yrs

Way too soon to label them as being "stuck" with that contract. It isn't an overpay and it's very possible Dee is a solid player for the remainder of the contract. Despite the argument that Dee no longer deserves the money itself, the value of the contract is still there.

There is no way no team would want dee right?

Uhhhh.

Let's recap.  Dee comes out of the minors as a slap hitting, good glove bench player.  In 2014, he morphs into an everyday player with a very good BA and wins an All-Star berth and a batting title the next year.  He gets caught for doping in spring training and manages a very pedestrian batting average the first month of the season.

And you think that there is value in paying the non-doped up version of this player an AAV of 10 million per?  Over 5 years?

I think it should be clear to anyone with half a brain that Dee's PED use is the reason he was anything other than a backup infielder/pinch runner/late inning defensive replacement.

Why don't we wait to see what kind of player he is when he comes back before casting judgement?

There is zero evidence that Dee was using PED's anytime before he failed his test this spring. I wholeheartedly understand your logic and your assumption that his PED use led to his amazing 2015 but there is absolutely ZERO evidence that he used PEDs before 2016 so I'm gonna say it's only fair to wait until he returns to see what he can do.

This.

This as well. I have yet to come across any article or source that he was using PED during 2015. While there is speculation and certainly doubt until that comes out, we don't know if he did it clean.

He tested positive in Spring Training and I am sure that weighed heavy on him while he was playing. Nobody knew. Yet he still played through it.

I sense you judge pretty quick

There is no evidence, but it's pretty suspect that Dee suddenly started taking PEDs after a batting title and great year while "clean."

Fair assumption, can't deny that, but still just that, an assumption.
