Mets have actually dropped four straight and are now 21-16. I do think they over-achieved last season, so I can't say I'm totally surprised.

 

Their offense really isn't good, just like the Nationals. Their pitching has definitely sustained them and the same can be said for the Phillies.

 

Definitely feels good to turn around and split the series. Jose was dominating today and got it done on both sides. Great hit to make it a 5-1 game.

 

First thought with the collision is that they hit each other head on or near the chest area, glad it was a just feet tangle and bought got up and contributed. I hope the HR for Stanton sets off another nice run of hits like it did in San Francisco.

I think he will be calling the games that around the NY / NJ area. Since he calls the Yankees and does MLB Network work. So I would expect Phillies and Met series when Marlins are on the road.

I don't mind canada-marlin either. It's just the "omg life sucks and this team always owns us" repetitive posts during the gamethreads that are annoying, especially when we're 5-5 against that team. And the whole "we won 11 of 12, but who cares because we did the same thing last year."

 

It's a new year. 

 

With that said, canada-marlin has been here a long time, and, unlike Das, he/she has not converted into a Cardinals fan so I have a lot of respect for him/her. 

 

I also love the idea that no one is really sure of his/her gender. That's brilliant.

 

 

Yeah just my two cents in the thing... canada-marlin is cool people. Not to put it on Admin but I think he brought up canada-marlin's negativity recently and it ballooned from there but I don't think he/she is a negative fan as much as just being a "glass half empty" poster. I mean, it's not like the glass is completely empty. So yeah, I'm ok with canada-marlin, I'm sure he/she is cool.

yeah the two games I got to watch over the weekend were awful even by Preston's lofty standards.  I know some of you guys think Eduardo is difficult to understand (some refer to it as marble-mouth) but Preston couldn't even bring himself to pronounce words like "executed" correctly (he continued to say something that sounded like "exclusid").  Also, making it a point to include yourself in EVERY story by saying, "when I was playing.....".  I wish Rich would try and counter that with, "When Tommy was my partner I didn't necessarily look forward to coming to Washington knowing I could easily leap from this booth and die just to escape you."

 

 

On a side note, I caught the end of the Dbacks game afterward and those guys are AWFUL and they actually will sit there and discuss how Goldschmidt hits HR's the furthest they've ever seen - they even referenced that ridiculous Stanton dong and still agreed that "Goldie" hits them the furthest they've ever seen.  Dbacks used to have an entertaining broadcasting team with Mark Grace still in the booth.  That dude had some Tommy-esque rants and would say some insane off-the-wall stuff - we all know that's because he was likely sloshed but it sure was entertaining.
