The All-Star Game sponsorship is part of a broader partnership with MLB announced in April. When MasterCard and MLB renewed their deal, the credit card and payments technology company received additional media and branding rights during All-Star Week. MasterCard replaces T-Mobile US (TMUS), the presenting sponsor of the 2015 Midsummer Classic. T-Mobile now headlines the Home Run Derby. By deepening its ties to baseball, including the addition of MasterCard to the All-Star Game’s official logo, MasterCard has put itself directly in the spotlight for a marquee sports event.

I can understand giving companies like Mastercard and T-Mobile headline sponsorship of these special events, but inserting the corporate logo into the ASG logo is just too much. Advertising has always been integral to MLB but this is excessive. I'm sure they could make extra money if they smacked a Mastercard logo on every regular season game ball, but that doesn't mean that they should.

July 28, 201610 yr Author The logo has already been seen today alone without the MasterCard logo, including on merchandise at the team store. Past ASG logos have had the sponsor logos as well but none of the logos have made it to the on field stuff. In my eyes, the MasterCard logo isn't a part of the logo but will accompany it in many, many uses including its debut today. It can and will be removed at certain times. Edit: Looking back at past unveilings this does look to be the first time the sponsor logo is included in the unveiling so that in itself is a first and a problem but I wouldn't bet on the sponsor getting into the on field stuff any time soon.

July 30, 201610 yr Author Ball looks awesome, are there caps yet with the logo on the side? Nope. I'm gonna expect that for next year because I didn't see it yesterday. They did have a variety of caps. Some had the full logo, some had just the words without the star shape in the background (not sure why anyone would want that one) some had the logo but instead of all star game it said ASG, some caps were all black, some black with orange bill and one, an underrated beauty, was all red orange with the logo in all white. I hope the black caps and orange caps is part of their concept for the home run Derby when they have opposing caps and colors for the two leagues. One league in black and one in orange.
July 30, 201610 yr Author I went with the cap with the logo up front instead of a Marlins cap with the patch because this logo is so nice I wanted it front and center. The logo on the side is more like if my city isn't the host city and I want a cap, like this year in San Diego. If it's in Miami I'm flaunting that everywhere.
August 14, 201610 yr Author Ohhhh no to the black and blue combo I hate that. If they use that blue it has to be with the red orange.
