As a baseball fan, an artist, and an art teacher I've taken an interest and appreciation into uniforms, their designs, their history and, equally as fun, the discussions and debates about them. It's about time this place has a centralized thread to discuss uniforms. Not just Marlins uniforms, all teams uniforms. New ones and old ones as well. Feel free to drop in and leave your opinions as well as join in to ongoing debates. My hope is this thread has a long life and is an ongoing topic. Enjoy!

Oakland's color scheme is gorgeous although too much green in baseball wouldn't work.

I wouldn't say useless but yes if anyone can put pictures into the discussions it would benefit the thread. Honey instead of vinegar Das.

Looking at all the uniforms brings back the old topic of...why do we never wear the orange hat?

Because we can't have good things.

Always thought this looks like a parking cone... but I'm amazed it was only used that one time... and never in the regular season.

About that orange cap too... originally, at least the way it is (or was) listed in the MLB Style Guide, it was supposed to be paired with the orange jersey and the team went and paired the black cap with the orange jersey instead. I think the black cap looks wonderful with the orange jersey but it makes me wonder how it would look in reality pairing the orange cap with the orange jersey. Here's two photo examples, one apparently from the style guide, the other from MLB The Show, which has the orange cap paired with the orange jersey on the default alternate uniform setting.

Lol to add to this... I have Marlins, Rays, Giants, and (several) Blue Jays jerseys. Caps, sue me, I've got too many teams caps because I went through a period where I bought more caps than I needed for minor reasons like just liking the colors or logos, one is even an inside joke with my dad. Marlins, Rays, Yankees, Mariners, Brewers, Rangers, Padres, White Sox, Blue Jays, Cardinals, Tigers, Rockies, Reds, WBC Dominican Republic (my mom's nationality), some are multiples in different designs. I've got a sweet cap collection but to be honest these days I pretty much only wear the Marlins stuff, I now feel bad wearing a different team cap especially on a day the Fish are playing.

According to this picture the orange caps have only been worn four times in the regular season (not including that exhibition game against the Yankees in 2012 which I included in the 2nd pic)

The orange cap looks better than the black one with the home jerseys. I don't know why they never wear it.

I would wear the orange with the white home jersey, and use the black cap for the other jerseys.

Agreed. Black undershirts though? Or orange undershirts and socks like Buerhle above?

Last thing about the orange caps, I don't think this is the way to go but I figure it's worth bringing up. When the orange cap was released some places listed it as the road cap. I think black caps work best with the road gray jersey but does anyone think this combo would be interesting? If the team is so insistent on wearing the home whites with black caps maybe this is an alternative that could work? Possibly even as maybe a Sunday road day game alternate cap?

I don't like the orange cap with the gray jersey personally

Wish the orange with white home is worn more often. Didn't they try to do a Sunday jersey with orange and orange or something like that?

But my favorite jersey is the Dodgers. Classic and clean.

anyone remember the turn ahead the clock jerseys??

Better than most worn that day because that logo is awesome but man I don't understand how they thought the future meant oversized logos lol.
