I'm legitimately intrigued by the thought of what a different GM could do with this team. Even if you somehow liked Hill, it feels like its beyond time to move on and try a new guy. Hopefully Loria is thinking the same way.

This. Like this is literally what should be said to the media, this is what Loria should be thinking and telling Mike Hill straight to his face. Without even bashing the guy... it's time for a new guy. With that said, there's been such an emphasis on trying to create stability here that I hope Loria isn't thinking to keep Hill just to avoid the media saying things like "Ohh the Marlins are firing someone and shaking things up yet AGAIN." Come on Loria, do the smart thing.

 

 

Not only is Mike Hill the GM, he's the President of Baseball Operations. That's everything encompassing on field play. I normally try and reserve my opinion when it comes to interviews, but it's fairly obvious listening to him speak on anything baseball related he's more of a professional business man, than a professional baseball man

Honestly, it would only add to the value. The perception around baseball is the Marlins are a bottom 5 organization. The general opinion around the league is, they have some nice young talent, and have made a few better coaching hires, but overall as an organization it's a joke compared to the field. That's from both opposing players, and various organizational members.

Loria has owned the team since 2002 and his only success was a roster that was more than half built by Dave Dombrowski. If the Mariners make the playoffs this year, the Marlins will have the longest drought. I don't think that Loria wants to sell without ever having a playoff team that was fully "his."

Oh, well I can't infer one way or another. But if his baseball intellect is any indication of his intelligence in general, he's about on the same intellectual level as Vince.

 

 

What is a new GM going to do in one year? Loria can just tell Hill to fuckoff and make the decisions himself. I see him doing that before hiring new people. New hires take a while to make an impact, even if replacing a tard like hill. 

 

I think that a playoff hunt isn't out of the question for 2017 if they make the right moves. A new GM could certainly do that even if he can't immediately plug all of the holes or rebuild the farm system.

As upset as we are right now, if on opening day I'd have asked you all of you'd take us being this close to a playoff spot on August 19th, you'd all happily take that. It's too bad that we see that and feel like we have no chance to close that gap.

True. But realistically, it's looking bleak. Being positive is one thing but this entire month we haven't shown the ability to push forward.

I don't think we needs to make any moves.

 

I mean think about it. Our bullpen is stacked. Ramos, Rodney (he's a stud guys), Capps, and Barraclough is beautiful. The hitting has done well this year and our staff will be much improved. Jose (he'll be here forever), Chen (great UFA signing), Koehler (practically an ace), Rodon (young stud that will only improve), Rea (great 5 with potential), and a mid season call up of Paddack is a great staff.
