I don't see how we have a spot for Gomez now that Scruggs was called up. Scruggs will take the spot of the extra pitcher we've been carrying. To have room for Gomez before rosters expand, we'd have to get rid of Mathis, Rojas, CJ, Dietrich or Ichiro. CJ is the only possibility. But, I don't see it happening for a guy with 100 strikeouts in 295 at bats this year.

CJ has struck out 69 times in 216 ab this year a lot of them against lefties. Guy needs to go.

I don't want the marlins to lose. It's just going to happen. I made the sept 1 prediction for a few reasons. The team was clearly headed in a losing direction, I was poking fun at Vince pissing out predictions every game, and repeating the same thing over and over for weeks is an excellent way to troll. So 2/3 entertainment, 1/3 saw it coming.

 

I won't be happy when the team finishes the season under .500 just like every season where I'm not happy they suck.

I'll give @squallcredit though... he called the Sept 1 thing before it was obvious they were going downhill. I mean some negative things were starting to happen but when he started the Sept 1 thing Stanton was still healthy, Dee was just returning, Cashner had yet to prove he was useless, Conley wasn't hurt, Jose Fernandez wasn't yet impersonating Jose Urena, Ramos was healthy, Bour was supposed to be returning... so there was a chance the team could pull it together and squall was just guessing. It's only after the Sept 1 that all went in this downward spiral. OMG it makes you think, is squall directly responsible for our August collapse?

 

 

I think @squall is die hard fan that is just constantly disappointed the moves of the front office. I'll give him credit for the Sept. 1st thing though because he seems to be dead right.

 

We came into this season walking on a tight rope and we have been walking it for the longest but the depth in our pitching staff kills us. Our lineup isn't doing crap without Giancarlo at least being present in it. Ichiro is looking worn out and Dietrich checked out once Dee Gordon was weeks away from coming back.

 

Ozuna and Prado have been stepping it up but we need more than that to contribute. I can't even pin it on the bullpen because they are over worked. Our starters are only going 5-6 innings and that is burning us.

 

 

@squall we're gonna need clarification. The team will be down to 500 on Sept 1st or BY sept 1st? Because this team is in such a rut they could be at 500 on Sunday evening.
