Posted December 13, 200321 yr The Red Sox are expected to trade Scott Williamson now that they've acquired Keith Foulke. It's also possible that Byung-Hyun Kim will go, but Boston would still like to keep him and make him their fifth starter. Holding on to Williamson would also be a good idea if he were content to be a setup man. Since he wants to be a closer or a starter, Williamson figures to be dealt, perhaps to the Mets. Maybe he will be our closer??? Thoughts?
December 13, 200321 yr Kim would be a good fit on this team should they move him. Him and Choi could correspond with eachother so both feel more comfortable. Also, he wouldn't have to face the Yankees (most likely). I can't see Williamson as a Marlin for some reason.
December 13, 200321 yr How much is Kim asking for? He made 3.2 million last season, so might be out of our range, although being able to start makes him worth that much. Maybe we trade 2 of Penny/Pavano/Redman for prospects, cash, RP which we could free up to sign Kim. Once Burnett comes back Kim can move to the pen. If Burnett cannot handle starting anymore we have Kim and Burnett can close. Williamson made 1.6 million and did awful once joining the Red Sox. He was very effective for a couple years with the Reds who play in a heavy hitters park, so they are both good bets. I'd like to have both, but would take Kim over Williamson.
December 14, 200321 yr wasnt there a problem between williamson and mckeon in cinci?? actually i think its the opposite
December 14, 200321 yr i was never a FAN of Williamson but go look at his pre surgery #s and you will see this guy can get it done.
December 14, 200321 yr Over in the ESPN board I proposed a Redman for Williamson and prospect deal and most of them liked it. http://boards.espn.go.com/cgi/mlb/request....ove=firstThread I say we trade for Williamson and wait until they non tender Kim who will likely get a raise through arbritration. As a free agent we can probably sign him for around 3 mil.
December 14, 200321 yr can i ask a favor from everyone please? can we please stop quoting the ESPN boards? i have never once seen one of these rumors come true. thank you...
December 14, 200321 yr Author What about our "Special Money?" Being reserved for special players. Special players=Armando Benitez, Guerrero/Lopez, and whomever you want to dream about.

December 14, 200321 yr I would love to take Kim. He is very hard to hit, since he is a submariner. Thats all we need, Dependable relief pitchers.
December 14, 200321 yr awwwwwwwwe Deadsox are stupid enough to non tender Kim... they gave up there ALl Star 3b for this b***h..... and NO TO S.C...... i want Bentiez give me Bentiez do we even have Almanza anymore?????? why the hell R they gonna want Mike Redmond??? they have Verteck and Doug Mirabelli...... 4 get about it.........
December 14, 200321 yr the only reasonn i think he use to choke is cuz the NYC media and fans..... we are not like that....... he will be better off here its not like he was crao with the M's or even the yanks...... with the yanks didnt he have an ERA under 2????? only reason they delt em cuz that when Yank vs Dead Sox game where he walked like 4 batters in 1 inning
December 14, 200321 yr If Kim is non tender we should sign him imagine this rotation. (That is until Burnett is healthy) 1)Beckett 2)Penny 3)Pavano 4)Willis 5)Kim Willis and Kim back to back will give batters fit with there deliveries.
