January 19, 20179 yr 1. Straily is a MLB pitcher and 2. The scout must not be aware that Jose passed away. It's not rocket science.....a SP the caliber of Straily on the free agent market is going to cost $13 mil per year. What caliber? As I've already laid out he isn't a good pitcher. He was fortunate to hold down the ERA he did last year as he gave up the most homers in baseball and one of the worst hard contact ratings. He just killed it when it came to bABIP. That's the only reason he had the stats he did. For that you can thank the guys around him not him himself. And we gave up two near ready pitchers for him i would've been completely fine going into 2017 with Locke the back end starter if it meant keeping Castillo and watching him come up mid season which he very well could and potentially become one of our better pitching assets which he could. Yeah he's 25 in AA but this guy is going to by himself make this one of the more unfortunate trades in recent memory.

January 19, 20179 yr I generally prefer FGs WAR for definging value but straily's periphs are pretty unique where I'd consider the BR 4+ to be more appropriate for him last year
