January 19, 20179 yr I don't think they do when most on the bench are versatile. Ichiro can play all 3 OF spots. Dietrich can play left and 3rd. Rojas can play the entire infield. Dietrich, Rojas, and Realmuto can play 1st. So what's the point of having a Telis or Hood occupy a spot to go 0-1 every 3rd day? What if it's a player that much better than those two ?

Brice is probably destined for the pen but still a quality piece. All for a guy who was a AAAA pitcher until he had a decent year this year. Wayyyyyy too much

That's a terrible comparison Eovaldi was starting in MLB at 21. Castillo is 24 in AA and "still developing". He's got a good arm, but there's a reason the best we could get for him was a Straily-type.

Also keep in mind that Castillo isn't exactly a really young prospect anymore.

He's a thrower. Prospectus calls him an 8th inning guy.

January 19, 20179 yr Not saying you're wrong, but I'm not sure if he's wrong either. Eovaldi's problem isn't his control. Also keep in mind that Castillo isn't exactly a really young prospect anymore. Castillo already has better control than Eovaldi and his career 1.4 WHIP. His only problem is command which he improved a lot last year. He could contribute to the majors as early as this year. On top of him we lose Brice who is a solid swing man type. Just baffled how a team hurting for starters traded away two of its better pitching prospects for a AAAA type.

January 19, 20179 yr I don't disagree but the marlins get fleeced often. Absolutely. I'm more talking about people's instincts to rag on us. Stanton could walk on water and people would complain that he can't swim.
